BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
COUNTY OF EAGLE, STATE OF COLORADO
RESOLUTION NO. 2005-
TO ASSIGN COUNTY ROADS #49 AND #8550 A UNIFIED NAME OF 'UTE CREEK
ROAD'
WHEREAS, currently County Road #49 commences at Highway 131, 2.14 miles
north of Wolcott, thence travels eastward 0.74 miles and turns into County Road #8550.
County Road #8550 continues 0.42 miles eastward, then splits into Ute Creek Road, which
terminates 1.23 miles later at Ute Creek Industrial Park; and an unknown road that
terminates 0.11 miles later at the Eagle County Landfill (reference attached Map A).
WHEREAS, Eagle County is the primary landholder surrounding County Road #49,
owner of the public right-of-way, and provides for its maintenance; and,
WHEREAS, historical4-digit road numbers in the area originally assigned by the
Bureau of Land Management have become obsolete; and,
WHEREAS, the name of Ute Creek Road is representative of the primary
drainage recognized in the area, would tie into the existing Ute Creek Road spur, and
would create one consolidated reference route name for the area from which a
comprehensive addressing program can be implemented; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF THE COUNTY OF EAGLE, STATE OF COLORADO:
THAT, the proposed action DOES meet standards pursuant to Section 4.620.L of
the Eagle County Land Use Regulations which state:
"Street Name and Traffic Control Signs. The names of all streets shall be
subject to the approval of the Board of County Commissioners, and wherever
applicable, shall be consistent with street names, physical conditions and
historic features in the surrounding areas. The developer shall be required to
furnish and install street name signs and all traffic control signs and devices
necessary in accordance with the "Manual of Uniform Traffic Control
Devices" and the Colorado Supplement thereto. A street sign plan shall be
submitted with the public improvement plans that demonstrates conformance
to this standard."
THAT, the proposed action DOES meet an identified purpose pursuant to the
Eagle County Addressing Guidelines, which state:
"Eagle County Addressing Guidelines' primary purpose is to provide an
efficient and orderly addressing system that eliminates confusion or
obstruction to Emergency 911 dispatch and response, as well as services and
delivery" ;
THAT, the application submitted by Eagle County Staff for renaming of County
Roads #49 and #8550 to Ute Creek Road be and is hereby granted subject to the following
conditions:
1. A road sign labeling the road as Ute Creek Road at its beginning point on Highway
131 will be erected and maintained as necessary by Eagle County Road and Bridge
Department in conformance with the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices and
the Colorado Supplement.
2. Here forward, the amended road name of Ute Creek Road will replace reference of
County Roads #49 and #8550 from 2.1 miles north of Wolcott on Highway 131,
continuing east to the intersection with the existing Ute Creek Road spur, and will be
recognized accordingly in all Eagle County mapping documents, records, properties,
and reference materials thereto.
The Board finds, determines, and declares that this Resolution is necessary for the health,
safety, and welfare of the inhabitants of the County of Eagle, State of Colorado.
MOVED, READ AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of the County of
Eagle, State of Colorado, at its regular meeting held the 15th day of February, 2005.
