HomeMy WebLinkAboutR84-05 preserving air quality in valleyt RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COUNTY OF EAGLE, STATE OF COLORADO RESOLUTION No.$ s RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF EAGLE COUNTY, COLORADO, IN SUPPORT OF DRAWING PUBLIC ATTENTION TO THE NEED FOR PRESERVING AIR QUALITY IN EAGLE COUNTY'S VALLEYS WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners has determined that an increase in local population has caused increases in the level and kinds of air pollutants and that reasonable attempts to reduce air pollution must be made; and WHEREAS, the movement of air through Eagle County's Valleys is further restricted in cold times of the year; and WHEREAS, the use of fireplaces and woodstoves have con- tributed to the air pollution in the County's Valleys; and WHEREAS, this resolution does not apply to dwelling units which rely solely on fuel wood as their source of heat. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF EAGLE COUNTY, COLORADO, THAT: (1) The Eagle County Board of Commissioners designates the Presidents' Holiday Weekends on a trial basis as a fireplace and woodstove smokeless weekend (February 11, 12, 13 and 18, 19, 20); (2) All residents and visitors of the County's Valleys shall be encouraged to refrain from using their fireplaces and woodstoves during these weekends, in order to protect and to draw attention to the need for preserving Eagle County's Valleys' high quality mountain air.
