HomeMy WebLinkAboutR93-131 winter storm awareness and winter weaterh awareness dayCommission i it a�� . /���" moved adoption of the following esolution: BOARD OF COUNTY COUNTY OF EAGLE, STATE OF COLORADO RESOLUTION NO. 93 - ,/3 / RESOLUTION PROCLAEIHNG NOVEMBER 1 - NOVEMBER 7, 1993 WINTER STORM AWARENESS WEEK AND NOVEMBER 14, 1993 WINTER WEATHER AWARENESS DAY WHEREAS, emergency preparedness is a function of county government dependent upon the leadership of elected officials and efforts of many dedicated volunteers and public employees; and WHEREAS, severe winter weather may cause death and injury through heart attack, stroke, traffic accidents, and other related causes; and WHEREAS, severe winter weather causes hundreds of thousands of dollars in property damage each year; and WHEREAS, residential fires increase in the winter due to improper installation and use of alternate heating sources, unscreened fireplaces, clogged chimneys, and other factors; and WHEREAS, a number of government, private, and volunteer agencies are attempting to inform and educate the public on winter safety; and WHEREAS, by taking reasonable precautions, the people of Eagle County can lessen the hardship caused by winter; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Eagle, State of Colorado, do hereby support November 1 - November 7, 1993 as WINTER STORM AWARENESS WEEK and November 14, 1993 as WINTER WEATHER AWARENESS DAY BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Eagle, State of Colorado, encourages all agencies of our government, school, and other organizations to provide citizens with appropriate preparedness information for the 1993 -94 winter season. We urge all citizens to participate in this vital activity.
