of the following Resolution:
BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
COUNTY OF EAGLE, STATE OF COLORADO
RESOLUTION NO. 2024- 032
Resolution Designating May 2024 as the Month of the Young Child in Eagle County.
WHEREAS, Children are fundamental to Eagle County, Colorado's future success, prosperity, and
well-being.
WHEREAS, Supporting Our Workforce through increased capacity in early childhood care and
education and mental health services and access to affordable healthcare are key Strategic Priorities;
and supporting families of young children is crucial to creating a better Eagle County for all; and
WHEREAS, approximately 3,500 children from birth to age five call Eagle County their home.
Demographics suggest that the number of young children in Eagle County will decrease over the next
fifteen years; and
WHEREAS,high-quality early care and education and home visitation programs can help mitigate the
effects of poverty, detect and remediate delays, identify and help prevent child maltreatment, and lead
to positive outcomes for individual children, helping them to be better prepared for school and more
likely to succeed in life; and
WHEREAS, every dollar spent on early care and education contributes $2.25 to the Colorado state
economy according to the Early Milestones research; and
WHEREAS,public policies that support the whole family across multiple domains, including supports
for early learning professionals and quality community-based services for all young children, are
essential.
Now,therefore,be it resolved by the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Eagle,
State of Colorado:
THAT,May 2024 be proclaimed"The Month of the Young Child" in Eagle County, and that we call
upon all residents, community and faith-based organizations,businesses, and government agencies to
create alliances, target investments and build their efforts to strengthen Eagle County, Colorado's
families.
THAT, the Board hereby finds, determines and declares that this Resolution is necessary for the public
health, safety and welfare of the residents of the County of Eagle, State of Colorado.
