Box 147 Yampa, Colorado $0403 :fob No. 199 969 Subject: Percolation Testing, Lot 22, Diamond S Ranch, Eagle County, Colorado Dear Mr. Means: As requested, Hepworth - Pawlak Geotechnical Inc., performed percolation testing at the subject site. The work was done as a supplement to our Professional Services Agreement with you, dated December 28,1999. A profile pit and four percolation test holes (P-1 through P-4) were initially excavated with a backhoe in the proposed septic disposal area as shown on Fig. L The soils encountered below the topsoil were similar to those found in the building area and consisted of very stiff` sandy clay. The percolation tests were performed in the clay below the. topsoil at a dept of 3 to 4 feet below natural ground surface. The test.results, presetted'in Table I, generally indicate unacceptably slow percolation rates. We again conducted percolation testing at essentially the same proposed septic disposal area after it had been slightly elevated by filling. A profile pit dug with a backhoe exposed about 2iz feet of sandy clay fill and I Y2 feet of topsoil overlying blocky sandy clay to the pit depth of 9 feet. No free water was encountered and the soils were slightly moist. Three additional percolation test holes (P-5 through P-7) were dug to depths between about 3 to 4 feet and based in the topsoil. The test results, presented in Table 1, indicate percolation rates between 30 and 60 minutes per inch. If you have any questions or require further assistance, please call our office.
