Eagle County, Colorado. The purpose of the investigation was to evaluate the subsurface conditions at the approximate location of the proposed leach field and to provide design criteria for the proposed leach field. This report includes descriptions of the percolation testing procedure: and the results of percolation. tests_ This report was prepared based on results of the tests performed by our field engineer. A summary of the findings for the percolation tests and our conclusions based on these findings are presented below. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY 1. The percolation test holes were dug on May 26, 1999, and the percolation tests were performed on May 27, 1999, 2_ The percolation rate in each of the three percolation holes was 40 minutes per inch. Therefore, we recommend using a percolation rate of 40 winutes per inch zor the leach field. 3. No ground water was encountered in the profile hole to the maximum depth explored of 11.0 feet. Bedrock was encountered at a depth of 8.0 feet beneath the existing grade. I?ROPOSEU CONSTRUCTION The project consists of constructing a residence on Lot 24 of the Diamond S Ranch in Eagle, Colorado_ The residence will be two stories tali and will be about 6,700 KOEC9,L&N CONS LLTING ENGINEERS, INC Consutiing Georechtticat Engineers square feet. A septic system with a septic tank and leach field are planned to service the residence. SITE CONDITIONS The site is, located on .Lot 24 at the Diamond S Ranch in Eagle County, Colorado. The site is relatively flat and lies on the top of a hill. Vegetation on. the site consisted of natural grasses wid sag, brush, PERCOLATION :SOIL PROFILE HOLE The soils encountered in the profile hole (PTH) consisted of approximately 2.0 feet of topsoil uzidedain by a browzzmoist, sandy clay to a depth of 8.0 feet. At a depth of 5:5 foe, angWar wbbles wcrc emcountered. The clay was underlain by a basaltic bedrock to a depth of 11.0 feet, the maximum depth explored. No ground water was encountered in the profile hole to the maximum depth exploded of 11..0 feet. PERCOLATION TESTS The percolation tests were performed on. May 27, 1999, in the tirieinity of the proposed leach field. Three percolation test holes (P-1 thru P-3), approximately 6 to 10 inches in diameter, were dug to depths of 25 to 33 inches. The locations of the percolation test holes are shown in Fig. 1, Locations of Percolation Test Holes. The holes K06CHUM CONSUL, TJNG ENGJNEERS, ,rXC. Consulting Georeelindeat Engineers were lxlled with water and the subsurface soils were allowed to saturate for at least 8 hours prior to starting the tests_ The water levels were measured at constant tinxie intervals and percolation rates were calculated for each interval. The following section, contains informatiorn on the percolation test results. PERCOLATION TEST RESULTS Pl�rcolation, test results are presented lu Appendix A, Percolation Test Results. The last column of the table provides the water percolation rate for each, time interval. The water percolation rate for each of the three percolation test holes was 40 minutes per inch.. We recommend using a percolation rate of 40 minutes per inch in the design of the leach Meld. LIMITATIONS Although the percolation test holes -,xere located to obtain a reasonably accurate determination of the leach held conditions, variations in the subsurface conditions are always possible. Variations that exist beneath the site could become evideat during excavation for the leach field.
