The above-referenced repair has been finalized.
The Onsite Wastewater Treatment System (OWTS) was repaired and installed the addition of a distribution box and repiping of
the trenches to connect them to the distribtion box and not serially, allowing acceptance of effleunt equally to all trenches. The
first trench was capped to rest and should be uncapped once observed unsaturated to operate at full capacity.
Additional information about the maintenance of your septic system needs can be accessed through our website links, provided
on the Environmental Health Department’s septic system resource page.
Be aware that changes in the use of your property or alterations of your building may require commensurate changes to, or
relocation of, your septic system. Landscape features, trees with taproots, irrigation systems, and parking areas above the soil
treatment area can cause a premature system failure. It is equally important that you notice and immediately repair dripping
faucets and hissing toilets as this will certainly cause the system to fail. If you have any questions regarding this information,

Onsite Wastewater Treatment System Repair Recommendations

CBO Inc. provided recommendations for an existing onsite wastewater treatment system (OWTS) serving
the subject residence. The property is located outside of Carbondale, in an area where OWTSs and
wells are necessary.
Legal Description: Subdivision: COULTER CREEK RANCHES Lot: 8
Parcel ID: 2189-233-01-003
SITE CONDITIONS An existing OWTS serves the subject residence. The system consists of a 1000-gallon, two-
compartment concrete septic tank followed by four trenches, each with 11 ‘Standard’ Infiltrator®
chambers connected serially, with a total of 44 chambers and 825 square feet of infiltrative area. Eagle
County Individual Sewage Disposal System (ISDS) Permit 1844-99 documents the system. The permit
received final approval on September 9, 1999.
The system was experiencing slow draining with some standing water in the inspection port of the first trench
in the series. The other ports were dry.
REPAIR RECOMMENDATIONS With only the first trench experiencing saturated conditions, we recommended the beginning of each trench
be exposed and a new distribution box installed. The distribution box now connects to the beginning of each
trench, allowing all for trenches in the existing soil treatment area (STA) to be utilized. The pipe leading to
the saturated trench has been temporarily capped to allow resting and will be brought back online after a
period of time where there is no longer standing water in the inspection port.
Ross Trulove with Tonka Excavation performed the repair.
It should be noted that no changes were made to the size, location, or configuration of the system. This
repair entailed only the addition of a distribution box, which is accessible from grade, and re-plumbing the
system to eliminate the serial distribution.
