P.O. Box 179 Eagle, CO 81631-0179 Dear Heather, Thank you for introducing us to Hughes Excavating last Wednesday. I did stop and visit Randy at the Missouri Heights project to discuss the depth of the septic system being installed We spent some time with Randy discussing how to properly backfill the chambers for deep applications. We feel that soils on this site will offer good compaction during and after backfill. Combined with the fact that a trench application was used give us confidence the chambers will perform as intended if the following backfill procedures are followed; A) Chambers must be screwed together using a minimum of two screws per connection. This will decrease the possibility of separation during backfill at that depth. B) Fill material must be "walked in " up to the top of the chamber sidewall as show in the installation instruction. This will strengthen the chambers ability to handle static loading. C) Complete the balance of backfill in two stages. The first stage requires two feet of native material placed on top of the chambers. Final backfill can then be placed over that two feet so finish grade is completed. As usual, we will continue to promote the use of our chambers in shallow trench configurations, meaning one to three feet of cover. Please let me know if you have any questions about the above information. m ly G e M.
