The system is designed to serve a four bedroom residence, to accommodate a potential future expansion to the currently proposed two bed residence. The OWTS consists of a 1,250 gallon two-compartment septic tank with an effluent filter on the outlet tee followed by a distribution box, set level on compacted gravel and made accessible at grade, equipped with speed levelers to equally distribute effluent to four shallow 90' trenches, each consisting of chambers installed to manufacturers recommendations. Be sure to scarify the trench sidewalls and bottoms prior to placement of chambers, and install inspection ports at both ends of each trench. Note: As the design engineer did not specify a specific tank, the tank must be on the Water Quality Control Departments tank acceptance list. Contact Eagle County Environmental Health and the design engineer well in advance of requesting inspections prior to backfilling any component of the OWTS. The design engineer is responsible for conducting all inspections necessary to certify the installation and assure functionality of the system. System certification, along with photos and a record drawing is required to be submitted to, and approved by, Eagle County Environmental Health prior to the use of the system or occupancy of the dwelling. We performed an inspection in August 2020 and the ADV required moving to the high point, but we did not hear back after that. This permit is expired and my records do not show receiving final certification, a record drawing, or installation photos from the PE. Please send this documentation or provide us with a status update. At this time the permit is not in good standing and will be marked as void if we do not hear back within 30 days. The Soil Treatment Area (STA) and tank install look good, but the Automatic Distribution Valve (ADV) is installed at a lower elevation than the tank. It must be installed at the high point of the system (tank and STA), to allow for drain back into the tank and field to prevent standing water from sitting in the ADV. Please see the permit and design that were issued, attached for your convenience. This deficiency must be corrected prior to backfilling the components. Let me know if you have any questions.
