Box 10491 Aspen, Colorado 81612 RE: Individual Sewage Disposal System Permit Appl. Lot 4 - Mountain Meadow Ranch, Filing 1 Dear Mr. and Mrs. Kidney: Since I have not been able to reach you by phone today, I am writing this letter to inform you that before we can further process your individual sewage disposal system permit application, our office needs a detailed site plan showing the proposed location of the septic tank and the drain field and their distances from the property lines and the dwelling. Also a revegetation plan for the disturbed soil areas will be needed. I did call Bob Nelson, who performed your percolation tests, with this information. Please resolve this matter as soon as possible so that we may issue your permit without further delay. If you have any questions, please call 328-7311 or 927-3823, extension 237. Box 811 Eagle, Colorado 81631 RE: Lot 4, Filing I, Mountain Meadows Ranch Subdivision Dear Eric: On February 28, 1981, we conducted a percolation test on the referenced property at the request of the owner. Upon arriving at the site we found three test holeswhich had been wetted and were soaking since approximately 8:30 A.M. No frost was evident in the ground, and the general soil through- out the lot was moist and sticky from recent snowmelt. The surface soil was cracked, indicating a moderate to significant shrink -swell potential. Soil texture was characteristic of silty clay loam, deep reddish in color. The soil particle structure was a fine to moderately fine platy type with a weak, poorly formed structure grade in aggregation. A modified falling head percolation test procedure was employed, and little difference was noted after the initial reading period in the water level measurements for each test hole. The attached sheet is a recapitulation of the field test data obtained on this lot. In view of the slow percolation rate and general soil conditions, we would recommend a 1250-gallon septic tank and four trenches approximately four feet wide and eighty-four feet in length for the proposed house. Air vents at the distal ends of the distribution pipes, alternate dosing and resting, utilizing the distribution box method of the attached drawings, and a depth of twelve inches of gravel below the distribution pipe will provide additional assurance in the prolonged operation of the on -site wastewater system. These construction techniques are strongly suggested to be used. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to call me.
