Consulting Engineers and Hydrologists October 4, 1995 Mr. Jim Milkovich P.O. Box 322 Carbondale, CO 81623 RE: Lot 3, Aspen Mountain View Subdivision , Dear Jim: This letter is to provide design recommendations for the individual sewage disposal system for the proposed residence located at 0170 Sam Grange Court, which is Lot 3 of Aspen Mountain View Subdivision in Eagle County. The design of the proposed sewage disposal system is based upon soils percolation testing and soils investigation work performed by Hepworth-Pawlak Geotechnical. A copy of Hepworth- Pawlak Geotechnical's soils investigation report is enclosed, along with a copy of my design calculations. The geotechnical investigation indicates a soil percolation rate of 45 minutes per inch; therefore, a standard leachfield system is appropriate for the site. The recommended sewage disposal system consists of a 1,250-gallon septic tank and a 1,200 square foot leachfield. An alternative leachfield is 32 "Infiltrator" leachfield chambers installed in trenches (not in a bed). All construction work must be in conformance with Eagle County Individual Sewage Disposal System Regulations; a permit from Eagle County will be required. I will forward this information to Eagle County and to your system installation contractor by copy of this letter. Please give me a call if you have any questions in this regard. Dear Mr. Milkovich: As requested by you, Hepworth-Pawlak Geotechnical performed percolation testing at the subject site on August 29, 1995. The fmdings of our work are presented in this report. The foundation excavation for the residence was observed and recommendations provided in a report dated February 28, 1995, Job No. 195 137. Three percolation test holes were excavated and soaked by others prior to our site visit. The hand dug holes are located in the bottom of shallow backhoe pits. The percolation tests were performed on August 29, 1995. The profile pit was observed on September 1, 1995. The soils exposed in the profile pit consisted of about %2 feet of topsoil overlying basalt cobbles and boulders in a sandy clay matrix.. The results of percolation tests conducted at the site are presented in Table I. The test locations are shown on Fig. 1. The percolation rates averaged about 45 minutes per inch. Based on our fmdings, the tested site is suitable for a conventional infiltration septic disposal system. If we can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to call our office. Box 322 Carbondale, CO 81623 RE: Lot 3; Aspen Mountain View Subdivision Dear Jim: The design of the proposed individual sewage disposal system for Lot 3 of Aspen Mountain View Subdivision in Eagle County (0170 Sam Grange Court) should be modified in accordance with the enclosed sketch. The modified design calls for a minimum of 34 standard Infiltrator or Biodiffuser leachfield chambers in trenches with a serial distribution system rather than a leachfield bed as shown in the previous Enartech design drawing dated 10/20/95. These trenches must have a minimum of 6 feet of separation, and each trench and its distribution pipe should be installed 4 inches lower in elevation than the adjacent trench to allow serial distribution. The number of Infiltrator or Biodiffuser chambers is calculated as follows: (1207 sq. ft. absorption area) x (0.5)/(18 sq. ft. per chamber) = 33.5. The sewage disposal system should be installed as per the previous (10/20/95) design drawing with the modifications to the soil absorption system on the Site Plan as per the enclosed sketch. I cannot modify the previous design drawing at this time because my computer system is not functioning. I will modify the design drawing after the system is installed and inspected as an "As -Built" drawing. Please give me a call if you have any, questions in this regard. Sincerely, ENARTECH, INC.
