The enclosed copy of the permit must be posted at the
installation site. Any changes in plans or specifications
invalidates the permit unless otherwise approved. Please call
our office well in advance for the final inspection. The final
inspection is to be done before any portion of the installed
system is covered. The deadline for the final inspections done
by Eagle County Environmental Health is December 1. systems
designed by a Registered Professional Engineer must be certified
by the Engineer indicating that the system was installed as
specified. Eagle County does not perform final inspections on
engineer designed systems.
Be aware that the specifications on the permit are minimum
requirements only. Installers should bring this to the attention
of the property owner.
This permit does not indicate conformance with other Eagle
County requirements.

Septic System design L.P. 7/17/92 - Revision M.M. 8/31/92
On 3/26/93, this division received ISDS site plans for the above
property. There are a few items of concern that I would like to
discuss regarding the proposed ISDS.
1. What was the percolation rate? How did you calculate your
design flow? Soil conditions? These facts were not included in
the plans I received.
2. The soil profile hole was not located in the vicinity of the
proposed absorption area. According to the plans, it was located
approx. 260 feet away, with approx. 20 ft. difference in
elevation. The soil profile examination must take place in the
vicinity of the absorption area.
3. Why is the proposed septic tank located approx. 80 ft. away
from the house. It is recommend that the septic tank be kept
closer to the home, so that the solids have less distance in
which to travel.
These items must be addressed and revised plans sent to this
division, before an ISDS permit is issued. Please feel free to

Enclosed are two sets of plans with additional septic design and site plan sections. There are two
booklets from Intermountain Engineering and the letter of approval from the Castle Peak Ranch design review
committee.
I have also enclosed two checks. One in the amount of two thousand forty dollars for the building
permit application fee. The second for one hundred and fifty dollars for the septic permit application fee.
Hopefully everything will be in order and will conform with Eagle Building departments requirements.

As per our earlier phone conversation, I am concerned about the
soil conditions in the approximate location of the absorption
area. In addition, I would like to see the tank situated closer
to the house. This would prevent any plugging that may occur due
to the distance.
In addition, on page 4 of your ISDS report, you stated that the
Eagle County Environmental Health Department would perform the
final inspection. This is an incorrect statement. The RPE who
designed the system must do the final inspection, and must submit
an as -built and letter of inspection to this office.
These items must be addressed and revised plans sent to this
division, before an ISDS permit is issued. Please feel free to

Dear Bert;
At your request on Friday, October 1, 1993, we visited the site on
Lot 15, Highland Meadow Estates at Castle Peak Ranch, Eagle County,
Colorado, for inspection of the septic system installation.
The system was installed in general conformance with the revised
drawing dated May 17, 1993, prepared for Mr. as
Project No. 92358E.
The building sewer from the house to the septic tank was not
installed.
A 1500 gallon;pre-cast concrete two compartment septic tank was
installed, instead of the 1250 galloon recommended. The
substitution is acceptable.
The sewer line from the septic tank outlet to the leach field was
installed accordin o the drawing with the exception of the clean -
outs, which were of installed.
The leachfield, consisting of Infiltrator Chambers was also
installed according �� �tthe drawing with the exception of the clean -
out ports that were1--n t installed, and should e installed at the
center of the last chamber in each trench.

This report and the plan provide subsurface sewage disposal
recommendations for the Egidio Residence to be built on Lot 15,
Highland Meadows Estates at Castle Peak Ranch, Eagle County,
Colorado.
SITE INPESTI!P ION
The building site for the proposed residence is located
approximately at the center of a 15 acre parcel, just below the
high point of a small knoll. The location of the leachfield is
about 250 feet west and downhill .from the proposed building
location. The topography of the building site and the leachfield
area is moderate with slopes ranging from 20 to 27 degrees.
The vegetation consisted of saga brash, scrub pine and wild
grasses. There were a lot of rocks on the surface.
Near tht:southwest corner of the proposed building envelope an
8.5 feet deep test hole was excavated. The soil profile exposer]
consisted of one foot of topsoil, underlain by 3 feet of light
brown gypsiflerous gravelly SILT with cobbles and boulders,
underlain by 4.5 feet of brown, weathered claystone with powdered
gypsum and cobbles and boulders to the maximum depth explored of
8.5 feet. There was no groundwater or solid bedrock encountered.

Within the proposed leachfield location there were three
percolation tests performed. The percolation test results were as
follows:

The average percolation rate is 15.4 minutes per inch. This
rate is within the range of 5 to 30 minutes per inch percolation
rate allowed for a subsurface disposal by an absorption trench or
bed by the Eagle County Regulations for Individual Sewage Disposal
Systems.

The proposed residence will have four bedrooms with 5
bathrooms and one kitchen.

The recommended Subsurface Sewage Disposal System for the
proposed residence on Lot 15, Highland Meadows Estates at castle
Peak Ranch, Eagle County, Colorado should consist of:
1250 gallon septic tank
- 283 linear feet of SB2 Graveless Leaohf ial.d Tubing
Due to the distant location of a suitable area for the
Leachfield, from the proposed residence location, the septic tank
will be located approximately 70 feet west from the proposed
residence location. The building sewer from the residence to the
septic tank grill be a 4 inch diameter SDR 35 solid wall PVC pipe
laid at a 1/4 inch per fort slope minimum and will have one clean -
out ports near the building.
The outlet pipe from the septic tank to the leachfield will
also be a 4 inch diameter solid wall PVC and it will have clean -out
part at distances not to exceed 100 feet.

The lea ;hfield will consist. of 283 linear feet of SB2
Graveless Leachfield Tubing. The SS2 tubing shall be laid along
the contours in 6 - 47.5 feet long trenches. The width of the
trenches shall be 24 inches and the depth shall be 18 to 24 inches.
The bottom of the trenches shall be leveled. All of the laterals
Shall be connected to work as a serial loaded system. The
connection caul be done with drop boxes and a multiple reducing tee.

Because of Nola Brock's emergency hospitalization in Grand Junction,
I have been asked as the former Design Review Committee chairman, to
write a letter of approval for your architectural and site plans.
Three members of the Design Review Committee met to review your plans
about four weeks ago. Your plans were enthusiastically received and
approved. You may have already received in Florida the letter of
approval by the current 1993 chairman, Vern Brock.
In the meantime, I have been designed to write to you of our approval
so that you may proceed with your building schedule. One concern or
suggestion was expressed that you may wish to review with your archi-
tect. The location of your leeching field is shown quite close to the
property line of Lot 14. There is some concern about the proximity
of this location. Out of courtesy to your neighbors, perhaps it
could be discussed with your architect and located somewhat farther
away from the property line.
Thank you for complying with the guidelines. We look forward to
having your construction begin this spring.

Dear Mr. Egidio;
We have recently discovered that our office has not yet received
a final inspection letter in regards to your septic system
located at Castle Peak Ranch. We have contacted Inter -Mountain
Engineering, but the information they sent to us was
insufficient. We need to clarify the following:
1. If any clean outs were installed between the tank and the
leach field at a minimum of 100 foot intervals.
2. If any inspection portals were installed in the trenches.
Clean outs and inspection portals will have to be installed if
they are not already in place. If the above mentioned items have
been installed we will need to take pictures of them for our
files, and for your system to be finialed.

On September 28, 1995 I sent a letter in regards to the septic system that was designed by Inter -Mountain Engineering
and installed by Shaw Excavating in 1993. I requested information asking whether a clean -out was installed between
the tank and the house, and that inspection portals were installed with -in the leach field as indicated on the approved
engineer design. After reviewing the letter Inter -Mountain Engineering sent to our office on September 12, 1995, I
found the information to be insufficient for final approval of your septic system. This letter states that clean -outs were
not installed, that the inspection portals "should be installed", and that both "should be visible after back -filling of the
system." Please notice that this was the same letter that was handed to the building official when you were issued your
certificate of occupancy.
On October 26, 1995, I visited the system location in order to take photos of the clean -out and inspection portals. Had I
found both items present the permit would have received final approval. The site visit revealed a clean -out between the
house and tank, but no inspection portals. with -in the leach field . The system was permitted with the portals in place and
cannot receive final approval until they are installed, and our office receives photos and correspondence confirming the
installation.
By providing the above information we can grant final approval of your septic system. We apologize for the delay in
