System is designed to serve a three bedroom residence and completely replaces the original system permitted under ISDS 1191-92 which is to be abandoned in place. New system consists of a 1,000 gallon, two-compartment, Valley Precast concrete septic tank and 563 square feet of soil treatment area (prior to adjustments for the bed design and using chambers) arranged in two beds that are connected serially to each other as well as serially within each bed. Sewage will be pumped to the new septic tank from existing ejector pumps located in the basement. Consolidation of the two sewer lines into one lift station with redundant pumps is highly recommended. Effluent will gravity feed from the new tank into the far bed of chambers. The design engineer must provide sewer and effluent line bedding requirements during installation; and shall determine when the soils are dry enough in the spring for proper installation. Contact Eagle County Environmental Health and the design engineer to conduct installation inspections. System certification by the design engineer along with as-built drawings and photos are required to be provided to and approved by Eagle County Environmental Health prior to the use of the new system. This permit was approved and sized for a total capacity for 3 bedrooms. Additional information about the maintenance your septic system needs can be accessed through web site links provided on the Environmental Health Department’s home page at http://www.eaglecounty.us/envHealth/ Be aware that changes in the use of your property or alterations of your building may require commensurate changes to, or relocation of, your septic system. Landscape features, trees with tap roots, irrigation systems and parking areas above the drain field can cause premature system failure. It is equally important that you notice and immediately repair dripping faucets and hissing toilets as this will certainly cause the system to fail. By following a few simple guidelines, like avoiding grease or other additives down the drain and making sure your septic tank is on a pumping schedule, your system has been designed to last for many years. If you have any questions regarding this information, please contact us at (970) 328-8755 and reference the OWTS septic permit number. The parcel is 0.6 acres and it is located on the west side of Highway 131, Bond, Eagle County, Colorado. The purpose of our site visits was to evaluate the old septic system and select a suitable area on the property for a replacement system. !Preliminary Investigation G Address: 19635 Hwy 131, Bond, Eagle County, Colorado G Legal Description: Section: 8 Township: 2S Range: 83W PCLIN-NE1/4NW1/4 BK-0122 PG-0240 QCD 05-12-41, Bond, Eagle County, Colorado G Existing Structures: There was a one-story residence with a basement, and a shed. G Location of existing and proposed wells on property: There is an existing well on the property. It was located just north of the northwest corner of the shed. G ECEHD records G Topography: The topography of the property within the proposed leachfield site is relatively flat with slopes of about 4 to 5 percent. The proposed leachfield site is located east of the existing residence. G Soil Data: One profile holes were excavated. The Profile Hole was excavated to te north of the proposed leachfield. The soil profile consisted of about 4 inches of topsoil over one foot of light brown, silty sand with some gravel, over sandy gravel to about 4 feet and from 4 to about 8 feet was fine sand, slightly moist. Three percolation holes were excavated in the approximate area of the proposed new leachfield. G Location of applicable setbacks in Table 7-1 !Reconnaissance P.O. Box 724, Eagle, CO 81631 www.lkpengineering.com Site/Soil Evaluation Report Page 2 of 3 February 18, 2016 Project No. 15-3070 G Landscape position: The proposed leachfield site is located in a side yard, to the east of the proposed residence. The slope of the site is relatively flat. Due to site constraints, the proposed new leachfield (to replace the one that failed on the west side of the house) will be a bed with infiltrators set about two feet apart. G Topography: The topography of the proposed new leachfield site is relatively flat. G Vegetation: The site was mostly bare ground with some patches of grass, sage brush along the property lines, and some evergreen trees planted along the driveway. G Natural and cultural features: The property is of a rough triangular shape. To the west of the property is the Rio Grande Southern Pacific Railroad. To te east is Highway 131. To the north is a residential property with few buildings on it. There are no other natural or cultural features on the property. G Current and historic land use: At present and in the past, according to the homeowner, the property was used as residential. According to the Eagle County assessor’s records, the house was constructed in 1993 and the shed in 2006. !Detailed Soil Investigation G Visual and tactile evaluation of two or more soil profiles in a test pit excavation; OR G Percolation tests plus one or more soil profile holes or one or more profile test pit excavations: One profile hole were excavated and three percolation holes were dug, presoaked and a perc test was run the following day. !Report and Site Plan G Name, address, telephone number, email address, and credentials and qualification of individual who conducted site evaluation: This site evaluation was completed by Luiza Petrovska, PE, of LKP Engineering, Inc. LKP Engineering, Inc. is located in Eagle, Colorado. The phone number is 970-926-9088 and Luiza’s email is luiza@lkpeng.com G Dates of preliminary and detailed evaluation: October 28 and 30, 2015. G Assessment of known or foreseeable land use changes expected to affect the system performance: None known. G Narrative explaining difficulties encountered during site evaluation: The existing system, the old plastic, septic tank, and the leachfield, were found to be non-functional. It appears that once the plastic tank collapsed, sewage entered the leachfield and failed it too. Locations of setbacks are all shown on the septic system design. The percolation test results and a graphic soil log are appended to this report. Sincerely, LKP Engineering, Inc. The rows can be 2 feet apart, or I can make two beds with 3 row of 6 infiltrators each, 6 inches to afoot apart and the two beds six feet apart. Which would you prefer to see? Box 783 Edwards, CO. 81632 Dear Mr. Kimmerling, 500 BROADWAY P.O. BOX 179 EAGLE. COLORADO S 1631 FAX (303) 325-7207 On September 3, 1992 you visited my office to discuss the feasibility of placing a septic system on a lot which you are considering for purchase. The lot is located approximately two miles south of McCoy, Co. and has a tax parcel # 1689-053-00-003. In order to make this determination, a percolation test along with soil profile observation is necessary. On September 9, 1992 I conducted the percolation test and observed the 8 foot deep soil profile on the above referenced lot and calculated a percolation rate of 25 minutes per inch for design purposes. The percolation rate and soil profile data obtained would indicate that a conventional system can be placed on the lot. Keep in mind that the dwelling placed on the lot may need to be limited in number of bedrooms because of the relatively small lot size. On September 14, 1992 you stopped in to obtain your Individual Sewage Disposal Permit and paid the appropriate fee. Unfortunately, we are unable to issue the actual Permit to install the system because it is our policy to issue permits only to those licensed as Systems Contractors in Eagle County. It is my understanding that you would like to install your own system and that you have had extensive experience installing septic systems in Wisconsin. Please contact my office for information on how you can become licensed. Hopefully, this letter will suffice to allow you to purchase the lot. If I can be of further assistance, don't hesitate calling. Your ISDS Permit number has been assigned as #1191. Please keep this for future reference.
