The soil profile at the upper (westerly) site was as follows: 0-1 ft. `,black, clayey topsoil 1-8 ft. fine brown sand The average percolation rate at the upper site was around eight minutes per inch, but we would recommend a design rate of ten minutes per inch. The soil profile at the lower (easterly) site was as follows: 0-3� ft. black, clayey topsoil 3 i-7 ft. fine brown sand 7-8 ft. sand and cobbles The layout of the lower percolation test holes was with two holes fairly close to the southerly fence line and one hole a fair distance northerly from the fence. The holes were all initially less than three feet deep and had perc rates of 50 to 90 minutes per inch. The hole farthest north had the fastest rat,:. This hole was then deepened somewhat to try to get closer to the sand layer and see if the percolation rate would increase. The rate did increase to about 40 minutes per inch.
