(FORMERLY LOT 3 OF CHAMBERS RURAL HOMESITES) EAGLE COUNTY, COLORADO PREPARED FOR: KEN ITO PROJECT NO. 90448E This report presents the results of percolation tests and provides septic system recommendations for the proposed single family residence on Tract 66 D of T4S, R84W of the 6th P.M., (formerly Lot 3 of Chambers Rural Homesites), Eagle County, Colorado. This site was investigated and three percolation tests were dug to a minimum depth of 27 inches. Holes were presoaked and percolation tests performed. Results of these tests are included in this report; see PERCOLATION TEST RESULTS. SITE LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION The site is located east of Wapiti,Road and north of Interstate 70 in Eagle County, Colorado. The site of the absorption trenches slopes to the southwest at approximately 5 to 10%. Drainage in the area of the proposed absorption trenches is to the southwest. Vegetation consists of sage brush and sparse grasses. SUBSURFACE AND GROUNDWATER CONDITIONS Subsurface conditions in the proposed leach field area are relatively uniform, and consist of 1/2 foot of topsoil underlain COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT (303) 328.8730 EAGLE COUNTY, COLORADO October 4, 1990 Dear Applicant: 725 CHAMBERS AVE. The residence will have a total of two (2) bedrooms, and will be equipped with a garbage disposer and automatic clothes washing machine. Design criteria for calculations are: 2 persona/bedroom 75 gallons/person/day-average flow +20% absorption area for garbage disposer +40% absorption area for automatic washer -25o absorption area for dosing tank Maximum flow: 150% of average flow V CALCULATIONS A= Qfi Where A= minimum absorption area (sq. ft.) 5 Q= maximum quantity of sewage flow (gal/day) T= percolation rate (min/inch) Q= 2 x 2 x 75 x 1.5 = 450 gal/day A= Q_450 26 77 = 465 sq. ft. 5 5 +465 sq. ft. + 93 sq. ft-(disposal +20%) +186 sq. ft.(washer +40%) -116 sq. ft.(dosing -25%) 628 sq. ft. absorption area From table 5, a minimum area of 250 sq. ft. per bedroom is required. 250 x 2 = 500 sq. ft., which is less than 628 sq. ft. Minimum area of absorption trench therefore is 628 sq. ft. If Advanced Drainage Systems, Inc. SB2 10 inch "gravel -less" leach bed tubing is used, one lineal foot of pipe is required for each three square feet of absorption trench area: thus 210 lineal feet is required. From Table 4 (section 4.07.01 of the Eagle County Regulations), a 750 gallon septic tank is required. SEPTIC SYSTEM RECOMMENDATIONS Based on the proceeding calculations, a 750-gallon oompartmented septic tank with dosing chamber is recommended followed by a minimum 628 square foot seepage trench. The seepage trench should lie a minimum of 10 feet from all property 5 lines and 20 feet from the proposed residon :w. An the system should be made by arepresentative of the Eagle County Environmental Health Department prior to backfilling_ The installation and material specifications must comply with the Eagle County Individual Sewage Disposal System Regulations. As an alternative to the standard 628 square foot seepage trench, 210 lineal feet of SB2 10-inch diameter "gravel -less" leach bed tubing (as manufactured by Advanced Drainage Systems, Inc.) can be embedded in the native soils of the site. A dosing chamber with siphon will be installed similar to Fluid Dynamics Siphons, Inc_ Model 423. The dosing chamber will allow for periodic_ high rate discharge to the field. This will prolong the life of the drainage field. The dose discharge should be approximately 400 gallons. CONCLUSIONS This report has been prepared for the exclusive use of. Mr. Ken Ito for the specific application to the proposed single- family residence at Tract 66 D, T4S, R84W of the 6th P.M. (formerly Lot 3, Chambers Rural Homesites), Eagle County, Colorado. - The findings and recommendations of this report have been 0 obtained in accordance with accepted professional engineering practices.
