Box 179 500 Broadway Eagle, Colorado 81631-0179 This letter is to inform you that the above referenced ISDS Permit has been evaluated by a Registered Professional Engineer to obtain final approval. Your building permit submitted for the garage raised the issue of this system having not yet received final approval. Our intent was to assure the garage would not impact the septic system and to gain information regarding the adequacy of your installed system. Please be advised that we have received information from SGM Engineering which evaluates the system's adequacy. We will accept this documentation for you to receive final approval of your system. In the event of future problems with this system, you would be required to repair the system at your expense. Enclosed is a copy to retain for your records. This permit does not indicate compliance with any other Eagle County requirements. Also enclosed is a brochure regarding the care of your septic system. Be aware that later changes to your building may require appropriate alterations of your septic system. These would need to be designed by a Registered Professional Engineer. If you have any questions regarding this permit, please contact the Eagle County Environmental Health Division at 328-8755. n*-------1.__ ENCL:Information Brochure Final ISDS Permit cc: ISDS File #1016-90 INDIVIDUAL SEWAGE DISPOSAL CALCULATIONS FOR BELK, LOT 6. [ September 28, 1990 Mr. Roger Hosea Eagle County Environmental Health Department P.O. Box 179. Eagle, CO 81631 RE: Bruzzio ISDS Dear Roger: 1UU1 Urand Avenue, Suite 2-E Glenwood Springs, Colorado 81601 (303) 945-1004 (303) 925-6501 Fax (303) 945-5948 RE NED 0 C1 0 1 1990 EAGLE COUNTY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT This letter will serve as a report to discuss the proposed revised design for the Bruzzio ISDS. As you recall, the original design incorporated the use of either one of two alternatives, both of which were located on the west side of the proposed house. Since equipment has arrived on site, the resources have been made available to research other areas on the site to locate the septic system. With this in mind, it was found that no bed rock existed within the depths to preclude the use of a SB-2 leach field system. We have designed this SB-2 leach field system around the parameters that we no longer have any conflict with bedrock, no groundwater exists and there is a 20 minute per inch (mpi) percolation rate. We have attached details which would be applicable for installation of this system as it applies to this site. Also, we have attached a sheet which identifies the design calculations for the SB-2 leach field system for this site. In the details (or sketches) attached, you will find a revised photocopy by hand lettering which identi- fies the proposed new location of the septic field for the Bruzzio .residence. Following that, are the typical SB-2 installation guidelines authored by Advanced Drainage Systems (ADS). The sketches behind the installation guidelines are compiled by ADS. The sketches are typical details which ADS used for installation of the SB-2 system. You will note that we have included the clean -out port as a detail. We are suggesting that the clean -out port (or inspection port) be installed at each end of every run of pipe. Also, we have attached the connecting lateral serial distribution detail to be used with this project. Initially, we are proposing to install four trenches, each at a length of 76.60 feet. Each pipe would be connected together via means of the connecting lateral serial distribution detail. The effluent line from the septic tank will be run into the uppermost run of pipe. We are recommending with this system that the runs of pipe be separated by a horizontal distance of 10 feet, or more. In September 28, 1990 Mr. Roger Hosea Page two addition, we suggest that the invert out of the septic tank be located at a higher elevation than the connecting lateral from the upper run of pipe to the next run of pipe down. After reviewing the enclosed information, if you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to call. Sincerely, SCHMUESER GORDON MEYER, INC. i _ hfereyo S. Simonson, P.E. In 1990, Schmueser Gordon Meyer worked with Jack Miller Associates and Pine Crest Construction regarding the construction of the system. Schmueser Gordon Meyer provided a design of the system of which two alternatives were proposed. Neither of these alternatives, as proposed, were constructed. In fact, the location of the leach field was reevaluated by the contractor during the time of construction and was redesigned by someone other than Schmueser Gordon Meyer. Therefore, no request of inspections of Schmueser Gordon Meyer were made by the contractor. As of recent, Gary and Phyllis Belk have purchased this residence and have attempted to work through the building permit process to construct an out building for this residence. Through this process, it was determined that a temporary certificate of occupancy was still in effect for this residence and that no official C.O. had been issued. The reason for the non -issuance of the certificate of occupancy was that there had been no final inspection of the septic system nor certification that the system was installed per plans and specifications. Therefore, this letter will address this issue not as exactly stated in the previous sentence, but to define the as -built conditions and apply these as -built conditions to information known to exist at the time of the construction of the facility and to those conditions that exist today. You will note that we have attached a set of calculations entitled "Individual Sewage Disposal Calculations for Belk, Lot 6, Oakridge 1, Aspen Mountain View, Eagle County, CO." On this set of calculations, you will find the theoretical requirement of the septic system were it to be designed as an infiltrator type system. What was found in the field as an as -built condition was four rows of infiltrator chamber -less leach field systems with an approximate length of 40 feet. Based on these as -built conditions, it appears that in comparison with the sewage disposal calculations (attached), the system is adequately designed for the three -bedroom residence. The 40-foot length of the leach field (or infiltrator runs) agrees favorably with the theoretically calculated 42 feet. This also agrees with the basis that each run would have seven infiltrator units in its construction. Each infiltrator unit is six -feet long, thus the May 3,1996 Mr. Ray Merry Page 2 theoretical length of the system would be 42 feet. Finally, it was determined that the septic tank for the system is that of a 1,000 gallon volume. This volume is adequate for a three - bedroom residence. Please note that the attached calculations are based upon Colorado Department of Health methodology. Upon your review of the enclosed information in this letter, if you have any questions or comments, please don't hesitate to call.
