RE: Ted Guy ISDS
Dear Sid:
Please let this letter serve as a letter of transmittal for the Guy
ISDS in Mid Valley. I am transmitting the plan along with the letter
which has been authored just previous to this letter.
On October 13th, I inspected the Guy ISDS, at which time we determined
that the system, as designed (enclosed), can be a gravity system. As
you will depict from the letter enclosed, the major item which can be
eliminated from the orginal plan is the dosing tank and pump. Ted is
currently starting excavation for the field. I apologize for your not
having received a copy of the plan. However, as it works out, the
revisions and plan can be submitted together for your approval.
Another matter that I would like to transmit is the Eagle County's copy
of the Colorado Flood Proofing Manual. I appreciate very much the use
of the Flood Proofing manual; it helped me enormously. As I indicated
to you by phone, we are currently in a floodway revision with the
Federal Emergency Management Agency. This is the first revision for
Garfield County, and as I understand, Eagle County has never been
through this process. I will let you know how this revision turns out
(i.e., give you a report) so you may know what to expect in the future
if Eagle County has to initiate any floodway revisions themselves.
Again, thank you for the use of the manual.
If you have any questions regarding this letter, please do not hesitate
to call.
Sincerely,
SCHMUESER GORDON MEYER, INC.

Dear Ted:

Per my site investigation on October 13, 1988, it appears that your
Wisconsin mound system as detailed for construction (SGM Job #B8151A),
dated August 10, 1988, can be gravity fed instead of a pumped system.
The following changes will need to be made to accomplish a gravity
system:
1) The distribution piping in the field must be increased in size to
a 4" diameter, perforated sewer pipe.
2 ) The line coming from the septic tank to the field must be a 4"
solid wall sewer pipe.
3) The distribution pipe in the field must be interconnected (i.e.,
the laterals must all be connected with header pipe at the front
of the field and at the end of the field) .
4) The dosing tank may be eliminated from the plan. However, the
1000 gallon concrete septic tank must still be installed. The
bed construction, consisting of two feet of sand, must remain
along with the 6 inches of gravel below the bottom of the distri-
bution piping. The gravel must cover the top of the pipe and
then be topped with Mirafi® 140-N filter fabric. Finally, the
six to twelve inches of topsoil must be located on top of the
Mirafi®.
I will be submitting a copy of this letter to Sid Fbx with Eagle
County. I hope this letter serves its intended purpose. Please do not
hesitate call if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
SCHMUESER GORDON MEYER, INC.

Per my site investigation on October 21, 1988, I was able to observe
the progress of the construction of the Guy ISDS. As of this date, the
Contractor had completed all of the bed construction with the exception
of the topsoil. All of the pipe was installed from the house to the
septic tank, and from the septic tank to the field. Essentially, re-
maining work for the Contractor is backfill.
My observations indicated that the bed was constructed per our plans
and as revisions. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to
call.

Re: Heron House, 0743 Willits Lane, Basalt, Colorado
Dear Ray;
When we bought this property in 1986 it had two trailers, each served by its own individual septic
system.
System one served a two bedroom one bath trailer it is now serving the old homestead residence
that was restored in 1992. It has a concrete two compartment tank located in the apple orchard
north of the homestead residence.
System two served a five bedroom two bath double wide trailer that was the primary residence at
the time- This system has a 1$00 gallon concrete two compartment tank located on the east side
of the barn and the leach field is north of the barn. This is the system that will serve the new
employee structure we have named Heron House.
1n 19BB we applied for a third and new septic system for our primary residence. I believe that
was permit 88-7. The system was designed by Schmueser Gordon Meyers. It was built in
accordance with their design drawings and consists of a two compartment concrete tank next to
the house with gravity flow to a leach field that contains imported sand in a fabric lined pit.
The water table is relatively deep because we are so high above the river. We have a 5'-4" deep
crawl space in our primary residence that is above the ground water level.
Please call if you have any other questions.
