C, 13 rUl n Inter-Monntain EngineeringLA& SEPTIC RECOMMENDATIONS FOR LOT 5, FINAL PLAT CHAMBERS RANCH PARCELS II EAGLE COUNTY, COLORADO PREPARED FOR: RICH COOPER PROJECT NUMBER V-8214E OCTOBER 1988 Box No. 978 1420 Vance Street Avon, Colorado 81620 Lakewood, Colorado 80215 949-5072 Denver 893-1531 Phone: 232-0158 SCOPE This report provides septic system recommendations for the proposed single-family residence on Lot 5, Final Plat Chambers Ranch Parcels II, Eagle County, Colorado. SITE INVESTIGATION The site was investigated.and percolation tests were performed by the Eagle County Environmental Health Depart- ment on September 21, 1988. Results of these tests were used to calculate the absorption areas. A copy of the percolation test report dated September 21, 1988, by Sid Fox, is attached as part of this report. SITE LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION The site is located in a part of Tract 67, Township 4 South, Range 84 West of the Sixth Principal Meridian, at 0150 Cactus Lane, near Eagle, Colorado. The site was formerly a part of Lots 2 and 3, Chambers Rural Homesites. The septic tank and absorption system will be located near the west property line. See Sheet 1 of 1 which is a part of this report. The location was selected by the owner. W DESIGN CRITERIA A single-family home for year-round use has been proposed for this site. The residence will have three bedrooms and will be equipped with a garbage disposal and automatic clothes washing machine. Thus, design criteria for calculations are: 2 persons per bedroom 75 gallons/person/day = average flow +20% absorption area for garbage disposer +40% absorption area for automatic washer -25% absorption area for dosing system CALCULATIONS A = Q where A = minimum absorption area (sq.ft.) i Q = design flow (gal/day) T = percolation rate (min/inch) Q = 3 x 2 x 75 x 1.5 = 675 gallons per day A = 675530 = 740 sq. ft. +148 sq. ft. (+20% for disposer) +296 sq. ft. (+40% for automatic washer) 1184 sq. ft. If dosing is used with the absorption system, the area may be reduced by 25%: 1184 sq. ft. (absorption area) -296 sq. ft. (-25% for dosing) 888 sq. ft. (required area) If Advanced Drainage Systems, Inc., SB2 10-inch gravel -less leach bed tubing is used, one lineal foot of pipe is required for each three square feet of absorption trench; thus 296 lineal feet is required. CCALCULATIONS - continued From Table 4 (Section 4.07.01 of the Eagle County 3 Regulations), a 1000-gallon septic tank is required. Based on the preceding calculations, it is recommended to install a 1000-gallon compartmented septic tank equipped with dual operation automatic dosing siphons. These siphons will allow for dosing of alternating areas in the absorption area, prolonging the life of the drainage field. The septic tank will be followed by a minimum 888 square foot seepage trench. The seepage trench should be a minimum of 10 feet from all property lines, and 20 feet from the proposed residence. An inspection of the system should be made by a representative of the Eagle County Environmental Health Department prior to backfilling. The installation and material specifications must comply with the Eagle County Individual Sewage Disposal System Regulations. It should be noted that there will be a two -bedroom mobile home on the site prior to the permanent residence being built. If it is desired to phase the absoprtion area with the construction of the house, the following design calculations for the mobile home may be used: Q = 2 x 2 x 75 x 1.5 = 450 gallons per day A 4505 30 = 493 sq. ft. +99 sq. ft. (+20% for disposer) +197 sq. ft. (+40% for automatic washer) 789 sq. ft. -197 sq. ft. (-25% for dosing) 592 sq. ft. 4 CALCULATIONS - continued 592 sq. ft./3 sq. ft./lf = 197 if of trench needed CONCLUSIONS This report has been prepared for the exclusive use of Rich Cooper for the specific application to the proposed residence at Lot 5, Final Plat Chambers Ranch Parcels II. The calculations in this report are based in part on information furnished to us by others. The findings and recommendations of this report have been obtained in accordance with accepted professional engineering practices. There is no other warranty, either expressed or implied.
