the following resolution:
BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
COUNTY OF EAGLE, STATE OF COLORADO
RESOLUTION NO. 91 -- 7 -7
DRUG FREE COLORADO 1991 RED RIBBON CAMPAIGN
"NEIGHBORS DRUG FREE & PROUD"
WHEREAS, by high school graduation, 25% of U.S. students are frequent users of
illegal drugs; one of ten employees are under the influence of drugs; eighty percent of all
felonious crimes are drug related; twenty million Americans use marijuana, and six million use
cocaine on a regular basis; by age 13, 30% of males and 22% of females have begun to drink
alcohol; and
WHEREAS, the goals of "Neighbors Drug Free & Proud" are; to encourage participation
by every neighborhood, urban or rural, in the National Red Ribbon Campaign and to encourage
individuals to take action in their communitites to create drug free neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, the Colorado Federation of Parents for Drug Free Youth and Eagle County
are sponsoring the National Red Ribbon Campaign offering citizens the opportunity to
demonstrate their commitment to drug free neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, the National Red Ribbon Campaign will be celebrated in every community
in America during "Red Ribbon Week," October 19 -27, 1991; and
WHEREAS, President George Bush and Mrs. Bush are the National Honorary Charimen,
and Governor Roy Romer and Mrs. Romer are the State Honorary Chairmen to provide this
community focus on Drug Free Neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, business, government, law enforcement, schools, religious institutions,
service organizations, youth, physicians, senior citizens, military, sports teams, and individuals
will demonstrate their commitment to drug -free, healthy lifestyles by wearing and displaying red
ribbons during this week -long campaign; and
WHEREAS, the community of Eagle County , Colorado, further commits its resources
to ensure the success of the Red Ribbon Campaign;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that The Board of Commissioners,
Eagle County, State of Colorado, do hereby support October 19 -27, 1991, as Red Ribbon Week,
and encourages its citizens to participate in drug prevention education activities, making a visible
statement that we are strongly committed to drug -free neighborhoods and pledge: DRUG FREE
& PROUD.
MOVED, READ AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of the
County of Eagle, state of Colorado, at its regular meeting held the day of
