'Dear -Mr. Rose
On Tuesday, Sentember 9th, I met with Dennis Murphy of the
Town of Vail Environmental Health Office and John Boyer on
the A..nholtz property nature center to review the site for.
an individual sewage disposal system....srecifically, a.
Clivus Multrum Organic Waste Treatment system.
Mr. Murphy suggested that the county issue a rermit to avoid
any conflict of interest *ith the town issuing a rermit for
its own system.
After reviewing the site we have the following comments:
1) Complete design and specifications must be sub-
mitted for review before we can issue a hermit.
2) The site appears to be ideal for testing this low
water use sewage disposal system.
3) During low use periods in the fall and winter the
unit will require additional organic matter to keen the biolo-
gical Process working.
4) Mr. Murphy nostula.ted the idea for the Possible use
of solar collectors to maintain heat in the unit during the
winter months.
5) We feel this is a very ianovative idea and good
Possible solution. This could be used as an educational
tool for low water use and solar energy demonstration at the
nature center.
Kent Rose Page -2-
6) The county would be very much interested in how this
unit operates and the amount of maintenance required as itmay
prove useful in rural areas of the county.
7) As the unit is sealed and non -discharging, we do not
feel it would necessitate soil tests.
If we can be of any further assistance, please feel free to contact
this office. ,
Cordially,
