BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
COUNTY OF EAGLE, STATE OF COLORADO
RESOLUTION N0.96-1~_
INCREASING THE RATES FOR THE EAGLE COUNTY LANDFILL
AND AMENDING RESOLUTION 94-185
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Eagle, State of Colorado
(the "Board") has determined that as nearly as possible, the cost of operating the Eagle County
Landfill should be paid from user fees rather than taxes; and
WHEREAS, the Citizens of Eagle County have expressed their desire to support waste
diversion efforts at the landfill;
WHEREAS, the Board has deemed it necessary to increase fees in order to generate
sufficient funds for regulatory mandates such as landfill financial assurance and future landfill
gas management.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF THE COUNTY OF EAGLE, STATE OF COLORADO:
1. That the rates for the use of the Eagle County Landfill be increased as follows:
Domestic/commercial waste ........................................................

These rates shall include the charge of One Dollar ($1.00) per ton which is paid quarterly to the
Colorado Department of Health as a funding mechanism for the Hazardous Substance Response
Fund.
2. That "separated construction/demolition waste (clean wood waste)" be defined as
discarded woody material to include, but not limited to, loose dimensional lumber, sheet
plywood scraps, particle board scraps, wood pallets, trees, brush, yard waste, grass clippings, and
leaves. Small nails, screws, and metal fasteners contained within the scrap wood material shall
be acceptable as well. Determination of suitability of separated construction/demolition waste
shall be at the discretion of Eagle County Landfill personnel.
3. That the fees to Senior Citizens (over 65 years) for dumping their own domestic trash
continue to be waived.
4. That this Resolution shall be effective January 1, 1997.
5. That this Resolution is necessary for the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Eagle
County, Colorado.
