RE: Sterker Parcel 2 - Septic System Design Notes - 5123 Frying Pan Road - REVISED DESIGN NOTES Bill: Attached are the design notes and drawings for the system to be install on the Sterker Parcel 2 at 5123 Frying Pan Road. I have revised the design based upon my conversation with Ray Merry on Monday June 18, 2001. Since you were out of the office, I contacted Ray instead. Ray and I agreed to the following in that conversation. The soils are a mix of rocks and sand with some interlaced clay silts with percolation rates between 20 and 25 minutes per inch. Based upon my experience this is a soil that has a loading rate of 0.8 gal per square foot per day. Thus the design has been revised to be based upon the 0.8 gallons per square foot loading rates, requiring 55 infiltrator units for each system. Please use this design in issuing the permit for this system. Please call i''fou=have a y questigAs G. xDeros 1, P. E. RE: KARINGA, LTD. - Design Notes FOR SEVEN CASTLES CABINS - STERKER PARCEL 2 5123 FRYING PAN ROAD - REVISED DESIGN NOTES The following are my design notes for the Seven Castles Cabins Septic System Design. The site is a flat area on above the Frying Pan River. The Seven Castles Cabins consist of 8 - two bed room trailers and cabins, (5 trailers and 3 cabins) for a total of 16 bedrooms. We have chosen to separate the design for the site into 3 equally sized septic systems. Each design will be such to handle 6 bedrooms or 3 units. System I will serve units A and B, System 2 will service units C, D, and E, and System 3 will provide service to units F, G, and H. System one only serves 4 bedrooms, but we have decided to make all three systems equal in size to simplify things. Each units is less than 2,000 sq.ft and the complex is served by a central well system. Thus each system will be designed according to the following design criteria and this design applies to all three systems. This format was agreed to by the Eagle County Environmental Health Department prior to the design. Refer to Ray Merry for Questions regarding this approach. Design (typical) - 6 - Bedrooms - 3 units - two bedrooms per unit - Approx. less than 2,000 Square Feet of area - 75 gallons per day per person - 25 minutes per inch (avg 4 holes) perc rates - Perc Test by GDD/MWE - Ground water 20+\- feet from surface unknown not encountered. - Well for domestic water - 175+' min away and above system. - Pond — 80+' from all three systems BASED UPON THE SOILS THAT CONSIST OF A NUX ROCKS, SANDS AND INTERLACED CLAYS, THE LOADING RATE IS 0.8 GALS PER SQUARE FOOT. Flow Flow = Q =6 bedr000ms x 2 persons x 75 gal/day/per x 1.50 = 1,350 gallons per day. This requires the new system to be 128-feet from the well and 78 feet from the pond per Eagle County setbacks. Tank sizing - minimum requires 1,687 gallons of septic tanks; Design is to install one 2,000 gallon tank for the system. Install biotube in system effluent tee inside septic tank. Area of Septic field required = A A = (Q\5) x square roots of the perc rate (AVG) = 1,350/5 X SR(25) A = 1,350 square feet = 88 Infiltrators 50% reduction for use of infiltrator units in a serial distribution system. 1,350 /2-="675 sq ft or 44 infiltrators. — Using Loading rates for system design - 0.8 gals per sq ft. 1,350/0.8 = 1687 sq ft. 50% reduciton for infiltrators = 843.75 sq ft @ 15.5 sq ft per infiltrator = 55 infiltrators total requiro/ System Design is to use 5 even trenches of 1 •units each or 55 total units in a serial distribution. System size is for 55 infiltrators to allow for even length rows in a trench system, with trenches 10' apart minimum. (5 rows OF 11 UNITS or 55 total UNITS) The layout of the system is to fit site conditions and meet all setbacks as shown on the attached drawing. Maximum size of bedding material over top of infiltrators is 2". Place geogrid fabric on bottom of each trench prior to setting infiltrator units to aid in settlement reduction. Min cover over units is 12" and approximate dimensions are 46' X 66'. Mound slightly over top of completed system. Use serial distribution for the system piping. The 2,000 gallon tank will be installed in the general area below the units. Compact hole excavated for tank prior to setting tank. Tees will be installed on both the inftluent and effluent lines of the tank, set on the inside of the tank. Set top of line from tee within V of the roof of the tank and extend line downward 12" below center line of tee. Fill tank with water prior to backfill to check for leaks and leave water in tank for placing the system in service. Septic tanks will be a two -chambered tanks with access ports within 6" of final grade. Install 4" biotube in tank effluent line, see attached information. Owner to be responsible for biotube maintenance.«,` Use 4" SCH 40 PVC piping in the Serial distribution to distribute flow to each end of infiltrator units. Install vents/inspection ports on end of each row and splash plate at the end of each row to minimize erosion at entrance. Install new 4" SDR 35 PVC laid at a minimum of 2% from each of the three units to the new tank. Install wyes at all connections from the units to the main collection line. Install cleanouts if necessary at ever 100' minimum or at bends. Insulate lines with less than 5-foot of cover or in uninsulated crawl spaces. All piping to be bedded in a minimum of 2" under and 6" over of 3/4" screened rock. Piping from tank to field and in serial distribution shall be 4" Sch 40 PVC with a min slope of 1%. Install clean outs, outside on all units. Adjustments to fit site contours and conditions may be made per approval of the engineer. Elevations of the tank and trenches shall be finalized in the field by the engineer. Installation and operation shall be approved by the engineers prior to final acceptance. RE: 7 SEVEN CASTLES (CABINS)Septic System - Recommendation of Final Approval 97-030.02 - 5123 FRYING PAN ROAD ECEH Permit # 2113R-0I 2124R-01 2125R-01 This Final approval letter is written for all three septic systems and the associated three permits that serve the 8 cabins at Seven Castles, (OLD Sterker Property). All three systems were designed, installed and placed into service in fall of 2001. NNE, ECEH, and GDD inspected the installation of the system and found it was installed according to NNE's design and ECEH requirements. This letter is to serve as the acceptance letter for MWE and recommendation to Eagle County for final acceptance of the system. To my knowledge all three systems were installed according to MWE standards, the system layout was installed per the attached asbuilt design drawing, which can be used as the asbuilt for all three systems and permits. Each system consists of 1 - new 2,000 gallon and 5 rows of 9 and 1 row of 10 units, serial distribution system with 55 total units. All trenches were installed using a infiltrator gravelless chamber system. All setback limitations were meet. Please cal:li"S.Yovliave any questions. .' co_9r_, rl n . •. G. RE: 7 SEVEN CASTLES (CABINS)Septic System - Recommendation of Final Approval 97-030.02 - 5123 FRYING PAN ROAD ECEH Permit # 221JR-0I 2I24R-0I 2I2SR-0I This Final approval letter is written for all three septic systems and the associated three permits that serve the S cabins at Seven Castles, (OLD Sterker Property). All three systems were designed, installed and placed into service in fall of 2001. MWE, ECEH, and GDD inspected the installation of the system and found it was installed according to MWE's design and ECEH requirements. Each system consists of I - new 2,000 gallon and 5 rows of 9 and I row of 10 units4 serial distribution system with 55 total units. All trenches were installed using a infiltrator gravelless chamber system. All setback limitations were meet. Please call is you have any questions. `4o-GG;) pA;OR1/'/ 59;-% G. The Seven Castles Cabins consist of 8 - typo bed roofs trailers and cabins, (5 trailers and 3 cabins) for a total of 16 bedrooms. We have chosen to separate the design for the site into 3 equally sized septic systems. Each design spill be such to handle 6 bedrooms or 3 units. System 1 spill serve units A and B, System 2 spill service units C, D, and E, and System 3 spill provide service to units F, G, and H. Systent one only serves 4 bedrooms, but we have decided to make all three systems equal in size to simplify things Each units is less titan 2,000 sq ft and the complex is served by a central well system. Thus each system spill be designed according to the following design criteria and this design applies to all three systems. - Pond -- 80+` from all three systems BASED UPON THE SOILS THAT CONSIST OF A MIX ROCKS, SANDS AND INTERLACED CLAYS, THE LOADING RATE IS 0.8 GALS PER SQUARE FOOT_ Flow Flow = Q =6 bedr000ms x 2 persons x 75 galldaylper x 1.50 = 1,350 gallons per day. This requires the new system to be 128-feet from the well and 78 feet from the pond per Eagle County setbacks, Tank sizing - minimum requires 1,687 gallons of septic tanks, Design is to install one 2,000 gallon tank for the system. Install biotube in system effluent tee inside septic tank. Area of Septic field required = A A = (Q-1.5) x square roots of the pert rate (AVG) = 1,350/5 X SR(25) A = 1,350 square feet = 88 Infiltrators 50% reduction for use of infiltrator units in a serial distribution system. 1,350 /2 = 675 sq ft or 44 infiltrators. Using Loading rates for system design - 0.8 gals per sq ft. 1,350/0.8 = 1687 sq ft. 50% reduciton for infiltrators = 843.75 sq ft a 15.5 sq ft per infiltrator = 55 infiltrators total required. System Design is to use 5 even trenches of 11 units each or 55 total units in a serial distribution. System size is for 55 infiltrators to allow for even length rows in a trench system, with trenches 10' apart minimum. (5 rows OF I 1 UNITS or 55 total UNITS) The layout of the system is to fit site conditions and meet all setbacks as shown on the attached drawing. Tees will be installed on both the inffluent and effluent lines of the tank, set on the inside of the tank. Set top of line from tee within 1 " of the roof of the tank and extend line downward 12" below center line of tee. Fill tank with water prior to backfill to check for leaks and leave water in tank for placing the system in service. Septic tanks will be a two -chambered tanks with access ports within 6" of final grade. Install 4" biotube in tank effluent line, see attached information. Owner to be responsible for biotube maintenance. Pr, Use 4" SCH 40 PVC piping in the Serial distribution to distribute flow to each end of infiltrator units. All piping to be bedded in a minimum of 2" under and 6" over of 314" screened rock. Piping from tank to field and in serial distribution shall be 4" Sch 40 PVC with a min slope of 1 %. Install clean outs, outside on all units. Adjustments to fit site contours and conditions may be made per approval of the engineer. Elevations of the tank and trenches shall be finalized in the field by the engineer. Installation and operation shall be approved by the engineers prior to final acceptance. System must meet all ECEH regulations and MWE standards and musk,g1iuVW,,ted by both parites. DfR0•.c G. Dean Duos eI', E.
