The site is a sloped area on above the Frying Pan River. - 0 - Bedrooms - Barn with bathroom, shower, and washing facilities. Use 3.5 person per dwelling as minimum for design of the system. - Approx. less than 2,000 Square Feet of area - 75 gallons per day per person - 23.3 minutes per inch perc rates - Perc Test by GDD/MWE - Ground water 25+\- feet from surface unknown not encountered. - Well for domestic water - 125' min away and above system - No water course, ditch, stream, or water table in the area of the septic system Flow = Q = 3.5 persons x 75 gal/day/per x 1.50 = 394 or 400 gallons per day. This requires the new system to be 100-feet from the well. Tank sizing - minimum requires 750 gallons of septic tanks; Install one 750 gallon tank for the barn. Install biotube in system effluent tee inside septic tank. Area of Septic field required = A A = (Q\5) x square roots of the perc rate (AVG) = 400/5 X SR(23.3) A = 386 square feet = 25 Infiltrators 50% reduction for use of infiltrator units in a serial distribution system. 386 /2 = 193 sq ft or 13 infiltrators. Use 3 even trenches of 5 units each or 15 total units. System size is for 15 infiltrators to allow for even length rows in a trench system, with trenches 10' apart minimum. (3 rows OF 3 UNITS or 15 total UNITS) The layout of the system is to fit site conditions and meet all setbacks as shown on the attached drawing. Maximum size of bedding material over top of infiltrators is 2". Place geogrid fabric on bottom of each trench prior to setting infiltrator units to aid in settlement reduction. Min cover over units is 42" and approximate dimensions are 30' X 36'. Mound slightly over top of completed system. Use serial distribution for the system piping. The 750 gallon tank will be installed in the general area below the home. Compact hole excavated for tank prior to setting tank. Tees will be installed on both the inffluent and effluent lines of the tank, set on the inside of the tank. Set top of line from tee within 1 " of the roof of the tank and extend line downward 12" below center line of tee. Fill tank with water prior to backfill to check for leaks and leave water in tank for placing the system in service. Septic tanks will be a two -chambered tanks with access ports within 6" of final grade. Install 4" biotube in tank effluent line, see attached information. Use System distribution to distribute flow to each end of infiltrator units. Install vents/inspection ports on end of each row and splash plate at the end of each row to minimize erosion at entrance.. Piping from the cabin to the tanks will be 4" SDR 35 PVC laid at a minimum of 1%. Insulate lines with less than 5-foot of cover or in uninsulated crawl spaces. All piping to be bedded in a minimum of 2" under and 6" over of 314" screened rock. Piping from tank to field and in serial distribution shall be 4" Sch 40 PVC with a min slope of 1%. Adjustments to fit site contours and conditions may be made per approval of the engineer. Elevations of the tank and trenches shall be finalized in the field by the engineer. Installation and operation shall be approved by the engineers prior to final acceptance. System must meet all ECEH regulations and MWE standards. trJrir G. DD IOSI P gdd\eck.el\99-032.02 . Protect your investment with OSI's advanced filtration technology. The OSI Biotube® Effluent Filter dramatically improves the qualify of effluent discharged from a septic tank by preventing large solids from leaving the tank. Effluent from the relatively clear zone of the septic tank, between the scum and the sludge layers, enters the Biotube Effluent Filter through its inlet holes. Effluent then enters the space between the housing and Biotubes, utilizing the entire screen surface for filtering. Particles larger than 1/8" are detained in the interior space, where continued decomposition of organic material occurs. Once the effluent has been filtered through the Biotubes, it flows through the modulating orifices at the outlet of the filter. If inflow becomes temporarily excessive, the fluid level in the tank will rise as the modulating orifices slow the flow through the tank, allowing maximum settling of solids. The use on this cabin will be minimal as there is no bedroom or cooking facility. The bafn will most likely Never generate 400 gals per day. So the loading rate on the system will be far less than the design will show_ The soils are a< rnix of rocks and sand with some interlaced clay silts with percolation rates between 20 wid 25 minutes per inch, Based upon my experience this is a soil that has a loading rate of0,8 gal per square foot per day.
