BOX 179 EAGLE, COLORADO 81631 FAX: (303) 328-7185 The Environmental Health Division would like to notify you to make a formal request to extend your Individual Sewage Disposal System(ISDS) Permit #1413-94 into the 1995 construction year. The Environmental Health Division discontinued percolation tests on November 15, 1994 and final inspections on December 2, 1994 due to climatic conditions. ISDS permits are active for 120 days after the date of issue if no Building Permit has been issued for the same property. If a Building Permit has been issued for the same property the ISDS will expire at the same time as the building permit. If you still plan to apply for a Building Permit this year or in the early months of 1995 you will need to have a percolation test conducted before your Building Permit will be released. You will have to contact a Registered Professional Engineering(RPE) firm to conduct your percolation test. If you have had your permit issued and have not had your final inspection completed, but plan on constructing the system in the next few weeks, please give our office a call and we will evaluate your permit on a case by case situation. BOX 179 EAGLE, COLORADO 81631 FAX: (303) 328-7185 On September 12, 1994, at your request, I performed a percolation test on your property at 101 Ping Lane, in Eagle, Colorado. The results of that percolation test are enclosed for your information. Perc test hole number one had rates which started at 1.43 minutes per inch and slowed gradually to at final rate of 5 minutes per inch. Perc test hole number two had rates between .62 and 2.5, and had to be refilled with water to continue the test. Perc test hole number three also ran out of water before the test was completed, but did have the slowest percolation rate, averaging 5.05 minutes per inch. The overall average percolation rate for all three perc test holes was 3.57 minutes per inch. While performing the percolation test, we had a discussion about the dimensions of the test holes. You informed me that due to the presence of large cobble stones in the soil, it was difficult to keep the holes six to twelve inches in diameter. Thus, you only dug the holes to a depth of approximately two feet. Even at this depth, your holes were approximately sixteen inches in diameter. In general, the wider the percolation test hole, the slower the percolation rate. Therefore, the rates, which averaged 3.57 minutes per inch, would have been even faster with narrower percolation test holes. In the Eagle County Land Use Regulations section 4.05.03 it states, "A rate faster than 5° minutes per inch and slower than 60 minutes per inch shall render the location unsuitable for an absorption system. Sites with unsuitable percolation rates shall necessitate additional soil evaluation and design by a Registered Professional Engineer if an absorption system is to be proposed." The installation was performed in general compliance with the Septic System Design Drawing No. 94781G, and the revision sketch and letter dated October 12, 1994. There was a 1,500 gallon two compartment concrete tank installed, with a 4-inch solid PVC from the house to the tank and from the tank to the leachfield. d`� The leachfield consisted of two trenches with(10Infiltrator Chambers, connected with one with(,111 and one a T-type connection. The soils exposed in the trenches consisted of gypsiferous sand and gravel with cobbles.
