This system is to serve a maximum of a 3 bedroom single family home. Installation is granted for a two
compartment, 1000 gallon tank, with a cleanout between the dwelling and the tank. Water line/building
sewer line crossing is only allowed if the water or wastewater conveyance pipe is encased for a minimum
distance of ten feet on each side of the crossing. The existing tank (concrete mixer) must be pumped and
either removed (and properly disposed of) or filled with dirt. The sewage effluent line which is to be
under any areas that may be driven over must be of schedule 40 or stronger walled pipe unless the pipe
is sleeved with schedule 40 or stronger walled pipe. Blue board could aid in freezing protection. The
leach field shall consist of 45 ADS Arc 36 units placed in serial distribution and trench configuration, to
provide 1136 square feet of absorption area credit. Remove any cobbles from the trench bottoms. Install
at least one inspection portal in each trench. Do not backfill with any cobbles greater than 8 inches in
diameter. Screen soil if necessary. Rack trench bottoms and sidewalls if there is any smearing of the
soil. Maintain all required setbacks. Do not install in wet or frozen soil conditions. Call Eagle County
Environmental Health (970-328-8755) for a final inspection before burying any of the system components.

Re: ADS Model Leaching Chambers (Models Arc 18, Are 24, Arc 36 and Arc 3611 )
Approval for Use in Colorado and Allowable Field Size Reductions (Area -Equivalents)
Dear Mr. Bachelder:
In response to your letter and memorandum of March 4, 2010, the Colorado Department of Public
I lealth and Environment - Water Quality Control Division (WQCD) has reviewed you- request for
area -equivalent values for ADS chambers to be used for reductions in absorption field areas in
Colorado. Area -equivalents are the horizontal area per chamber unit or area per linear foot that can be
used to calculate the number of chamber units needed for an absorption field area as calculated in
accordance with Section VIII.C.1.d. of the "Coloruclo State Board of Health Guideline.; on Individual
Sewage age Disposal Systems " J C(T 1003-6 (Guidelines).
Per Guidelines Section VII1.C. Le.(' - "Reduction in soil absorption area may be allowed for
gravelless soil absorption systems upon approval of the Department and at the discretic n of the local
health officer or his/her designated agent." Since 1991, the WQCD has allowed up to 50% reduction
in absorption field size in trench applications and up to 40% reduction in bed applications from the
absorption field sires determined using the techniques in the Guidelines. A methodology for
determining areas for bottom and side walls to be used with reductions was accepted by the WQCD in
1996
WQ('D calculated the allowable area -equivalents for the four ADS models proposed ir.. your letter
using the 1996-approved methodology and determined that the area request by ADS, [tic. are
consistent with those values. Accordingly the WQCD approves the following allowable area -
equivalents for use in Colorado. Note that local health agencies may elect to require more stringent
values.

Re: ADS Model Leaching Chambers (Model ARC 36 LP) —
Revisions to Allowable Field Size Reductions (Area -Equivalents)
Dear Mr. Bachelder:
Yl
1876 }
Colorado Department
of Public Health
and Environment
In an April 6, 2011 letter, ADS, Inc. provided the Water Quality Control Division (Division) revised
dimensions for the ADS Model ARC 36 LP chambers which differ slightly from the dimensions of the
early manufactured chambers approved December 8, 2010. On the basis of the "'Colorado Srate Board
of fieallh Guidelines on Individual Sewage Disposal Syslems" S CCR 1003-6 (Guidelines) Section
V III.C. Le.(3), the Division has reviewed the revised dimensions and resulting area -equivalent values.
The differences are small. However, the Division is issuing this revised approval letter to be consistent
with the new actual production values.
Guidelines Section VIII.C.I .e.(3) provides that "Reduction in soil absorption area may be allowed for
gravelless soil absorption systems upon approval of the Department and at the discretion of the local
health officer or his/her designated agent." Since 1991, the Division has allowed up to 50% reduction
in absorption field size in trench applications and up to 40% reduction in bed applications from the
absorption field sizes determined using the techniques in the Guidelines. A methodology for
determining areas for bottom and side walls to be used with reductions was accepted by the Division in
1996.
Area -equivalents are the horizontal area per chamber unit or area per linear foot that can be used to
calculate the number of chamber units needed for an absorption field area as calculated in accordance
with the Guidelines Section VIII.C.I.d.
The Division verified the allowable area -equivalents for Model ARC 36 LP chambers using the 1996-
approved methodology and determined the areas based on the revised values. Accordingly the
Division approves the following allowable area -equivalents for use in Colorado. Please note that local
health agencies may elect to require more stringent values.
