MERRY, REH Director May 8, 2015 Chris Hjorth 739 Hillcrest Dr Basalt, CO RE:Final approval of septic permit OWTS-10-13-9856;Tax parcel #246702402003; Property location: 104 Stackyard Lane, Basalt Area Chris: This letter is to inform you that the above-referenced septic permit has been inspected and finalized. This permit was approved and sized for a 5 bedroom dwelling.Additional information about the maintenance your septic system needs as well as information about private wells can be accessed through web site links provided on the Environmental Health Department’s home page at http://www.eaglecounty.us/envHealth/ Be aware that changes in the use of your property or alterations of your building may require commensurate changes to,or relocation of,your septic system.Landscape features, trees with tap roots, irrigation systems and parking areas above the drain field can cause premature system failure. It is equally important that you notice and immediately repair dripping faucets and hissing toilets as this will certainly cause the system to fail.By following a few simple guidelines, like avoiding grease or other additives down the drain and making sure your septic tank is on a pumping schedule, your system has been designed to last for many years. If you have any questions regarding this information, please contact us at (970)328-8755 and reference the OWTS septic permit number. The property is located outside of Basalt, in an area where onsite wastewater treatment systems (OWTS) and wells are necessary. SITE CONDITIONS The property is currently undeveloped and a single-family, 5-bedroom house is proposed. The property encompasses just over 3.9 acres. Vegetation on the property consists of native grasses. The property slopes to the southwest. Any wells, including those on other properties, must be located a minimum of 110-feet from the proposed absorption area and 50-feet from the septic tank. SUBSURFACE The subsurface was investigated by digging one 8.5-foot profile pit and taking a soil sample from approximately 3 to 4-feet below grade. A gradation and hydrometer analysis was run by HP Geotech and results are detailed in a report dated November 12, 2013, Job No 113 064DD. The materials encountered in the profile pit consisted of 1.5-feet of dark brown topsoil, underlain by reddish brown gravelly silty sand with small cobbles ranging from 2 to 6-inches in diameter with some larger cobbles to a maximum depth explored of 8.5-feet. No groundwater or bedrock was encountered. The analysis performed by HP Geotech shows the soil consists of 28% gravel, 35% sand, 32% silt and 5% clay. The USDA soil type is classified as Gravelly Sandy Loam. A conventional gravelless chamber system is feasible on this property. A long term acceptance rate (LTAR) of 0.72 to 0.9 gallons/square foot/day may be considered for sizing of the future proposed OWTS, depending on design criteria. For a gravity fed gravelless chamber trench system, an LTAR of 0.8 gallons/square foot/day is recommended.
