RE:Final approval of septic permit OWTS-4-12-7295;Tax parcel #210904105006;
Property location: 1320 Polar Star Dr., Eagle
To Whom It May Concern:
This letter is to inform you that the above-referenced septic permit has been finalized. This was
for a tank replacement to accommodate a 4 bedroom residence.Additional information about the
maintenance of your septic system can be accessed through web site links provided on the
Environmental Health Department’s home page at http://www.eaglecounty.us/envHealth/
Some of the final documentation notes for this permit are:
The cast iron pipe between the new connection and the house can be an impingement point and
should be checked when tank pumping occurs every three to five years.
It is unclear from the pictures we received whether the piping going from the existing cast iron
building sewer and the tank as well as the piping coming out of the tank were properly bedded
prior to the tank being buried.Pipe integrity at these locations can also be inspected during the
pumping events by looking for evidence of sagging and by running a snake through the
inspections portals.
It is unclear from the pictures we received whether access is within 8” of finished grade.
Since the permit allowed for the replacement of the septic tank only the treatment area
(leachfield)is still the old technology and sizing criteria.Continued functioning of the system is
the owners responsibility and requires routine maintenance.
Also,be aware that changes in the use of your property or alterations of your building may
require commensurate changes to,or relocation of,your septic system.Landscape features,
trees with tap roots, irrigation systems and parking areas above the drain field can cause
premature system failure. It is equally important that you notice and immediately repair
dripping faucets and hissing toilets as this will certainly cause the system to fail.
