Hi there!
Please see the attached electronic letter, perc, and design. Kirk will be bringing the application
down to the Eagle County building in El Jebel today. She does not have an excavator hired
yet. She is still in the process of getting bids, but will let you know who it is as soon as they are
onboard. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!

Subsurface Investigation and Onsite Wastewater Treatment System Design
4-bedroom residence
1680 Sunset Lane
Eagle County, Colorado
Kirk,
ALL SERVICE septic, LLC performed a subsurface investigation and an onsite wastewater treatment
system (OWTS) design for the subject residence. The property is located in Missouri Heights, in an
area where OWTS and wells are necessary.
SITE CONDITIONS
A 4-bedroom, single-family residence presently exists and is utilizing an existing OWTS. The
existing OWTS needs to be upgraded. Domestic water is currently provided by a well on the
property. The well is located to the north, greater than 100-feet from the proposed OWTS.
SUBSURFACE
The subsurface was investigated by digging one profile pit and three percolation holes, as indicated. The
materials encountered in the profile pit consisted of 1.5’ of sandy, clayey root zone, underlain by a silty
sand matrix and basalt boulder in calcium carbonate matrix to a depth of 8-feet. No groundwater or
bedrock was encountered. An average of 40 MPI percolation rate will be used to design the OWTS,
as described in Table 1.
DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS
The OWTS design is based on serving a 4- bedroom residence. An average daily wastewater flow of
600 GPD will be used. The system will consist of the existing 1250-gallon, two-compartment septic
tank. An effluent filter will be added to the outlet tee of the tank. There is an aeration system with
an aeration pipe currently plumbed into the first compartment of the septic tank. This aeration system
will be evaluated for proper installation and functioning. It will likely be re-routed into the second
compartment of the septic tank. Effluent will gravity flow to a new minimum 4-outlet distribution
box, which will be accessible from grade. Effluent will be evenly distributed to three gravelless
Page 2
chamber trenches. Each trench will consist of 20 rows Quick 4 chambers, for a total of 60 Quick 4
chambers.
The existing distribution box should be located and brought to grade for accessibility. The existing
trenches have approximately 237 square feet of absorption area, slightly less than ½ of the required
area. A diversion valve should be placed up-gradient of both systems to allow future use of the
existing absorption area. The existing absorption area is currently experiencing saturated
conditions and should be off-line for at least 2 years to allow time to dry out. The new system
will be used primarily and we will provide guidance as to when to cycle between the systems. An
accurate record of system diversions must be kept on-site.
Construction must be according to Eagle County Individual Sewage Disposal System (ISDS), the ISDS
Permit provided by Eagle County Environmental Health Department, and this design.
OPERATION INFORMATION AND MAINTENANCE
The surface of the drain field should be seeded upon completion. Vegetation is an important factor in
drain field performance. Erosion control should be practiced prior to and during re-vegetation. Geo-
fabrics or plastics should not be used over the drain field. No heavy equipment, machinery, or
materials should be placed on backfilled drain field. Livestock should not graze on the drain field.
Plumbing fixtures should be checked to ensure that no additional water is being discharged to OWTS.
For example, a running toilet or leaky faucet can discharge hundreds of gallons of water a day and
harm a drain field.
The homeowner should pump the septic tank every two years, or as needed gauged by measurement
of solids in the tank. The effluent filter should be cleaned annually, or as needed. Garbage disposal
use should be minimized, and non-biodegradable materials should not be placed into the OWTS.
Grease should not be placed in household drains. Loading from a water softener should not be
discharged into the OWTS. No hazardous wastes should be directed into the OWTS. Mechanical
room drains should not discharge into the OWTS. The OWTS is engineered for domestic waste only.
ADDITIONAL CONSTRUCTION NOTES
If the design includes a pump, air release valves and weep holes should be installed to allow pump
lines to drain to minimize risk of freezing. Excavation equipment must not drive in excavation of
drain field due to the potential to compact soil. Extensions should be placed on all septic tank
components to allow access to them from existing grade. Precast concrete tanks and distribution
boxes should be used, unless plastic or fiberglass is required. Access to all tank compartments and
distribution devices is optimal.
INSTALLATION OBSERVATIONS
ALL SERVICE septic, LLC must view the OWTS during construction. The OWTS observation
should be performed before backfill, after placement of chambers and distribution pipes. Septic tanks,
distribution devices, pumps, dosing siphons, and other plumbing, as applicable, must also be
Page 3
observed. ALL SERVICE septic, LLC should be notified 48 hours in advance to observe the
installation.
LIMITS:
The design is based on information submitted. If soil conditions encountered are different from
conditions described in report, ALL SERVICE septic, LLC should be notified. All OWTS
construction must be according to the county regulations. Requirements not specified in this report
must follow county regulations. The installer should have documented and demonstrated knowledge
of the requirements and regulations of the county in which they are working.
Please call with questions.
Sincerely,

Installation Observations
Sunset Lane
Eagle County, Colorado
OWTS Permit number 7-12-7730
Kirk,
ALL SERVICE septic, LLC observed the installation of the onsite wastewater treatment system
(OWTS for the subject property, which occurred August 17 through August 22, 2012.
The installation included an existing 1250-gallon, two-compartment concrete septic tank followed by
90 ‘Low profile Quick 4” gravelless chamber units, connected serially in a trench configuration for a
total of 900 SF of absorption area. The existing distribution box and trenches were abandoned in
place. An effluent filter was added to the outlet tee of the existing septic tank. The aeration system
previously installed in the first compartment of the septic tank (Pirana) has been disconnected.
The OWTS was layout was modified from the original design because of large rocks encountered
during the installation. This observation is not a guarantee of workmanship and/or parts and
materials. ALL SERVICE septic, LLC should be notified if changes are made to the OWTS.
LIMITS:
The observations were based on information submitted. If conditions are different from conditions
described in this letter, ALL SERVICE septic, LLC should be notified. Any additional OWTS
construction must be according to the county regulations. The installer should have documented and
demonstrated knowledge of the requirements and regulations of the county in which they are
working.
Please call with questions.
