of the following Resolution:
BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
COUNTY OF EAGLE, STATE OF COLORADO
RESOLUTION NO. 2022- 037
Resolution Designating May 2022 as the Month of the Young Child in Eagle County.
WHEREAS,Children are fundamental to Eagle County, Colorado's future success, prosperity, and
well-being and are our most precious residents. Supporting families of young children is crucial in
order to create a better Eagle County for all; and
WHEREAS, local early childhood organizations, in conjunction with the National Association for the
Education of Young Children, are celebrating the Month of the Young Child; and
WHEREAS,approximately 3,605 children from birth to age five call Eagle County their home.
Demographics suggest that the number of young children in Eagle County will decrease over the next
fifteen years; and
WHEREAS,research shows that high-quality early care and education can help mitigate the effects of
poverty, detect and remediate delays, identify and help prevent child maltreatment, and lead to positive
outcomes for individual children, helping them to be better prepared for school and more likely to
succeed in life; and
WHEREAS,every dollar spent on early care and education contributes $2.25 to the Colorado state
economy according to the Early Milestones research; and
WHEREAS,children need skilled, educated, competent, consistent and compensated early childhood
educators; and
WHEREAS, local early childhood and human service organizations are working to improve early
learning opportunities, and family well-being to build better futures for everyone in Eagle County; and
WHEREAS,public policies that support the whole family across multiple domains, including supports
for early learning for all young children are essential.
Now,therefore, be it resolved by the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Eagle,
State of Colorado:
THAT,May 2022 be proclaimed "The Month of the Young Child" in Eagle County, and that we call
upon all residents, community and faith-based organizations, businesses, and government agencies to
create alliances, target investments and build their efforts to strengthen Eagle County, Colorado's
families.

THAT,the Board hereby finds, determines and declares that this Resolution is necessary for the public
health, safety and welfare of the residents of the County of Eagle, State of Colorado.
MOVED,READ AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Eagle,
State of Colorado, at its regular meeting held the 17th day of May , 2022.
