HomeMy WebLinkAboutR22-011 Termination of the Eagle County Local Disaster Emergency Declaration Re: COVID-19 Eagle County, CO 202201229 DocuSign Envelope ID:03B5BCFA-66F4-4B38-87A6-8FE539CF2623 Regina O'Brien 01/25/2022 Pgs: 2 01:19:12 PM REC: $0.00 DOC: $0.00 Commissioner Chandler-Henry moved adoption of the following resolution: BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COUNTY OF EAGLE, STATE OF COLORADO RESOLUTION NO. 2022- 011 TERMINATION OF THE EAGLE COUNTY, COLORADO LOCAL DISASTER EMERGENCY DECLARATION RE: 2021 COVID-19 WHEREAS,new variants of COVID-19, including Delta and Omicron,necessitated a 2021 emergency declaration. Due to the contagiousness of these new variants, coupled with the numerous travelers from around the world visiting the county, Eagle County saw several new cases of the virus and its transmission with the community; and WHEREAS,the volume of COVID-19 cases in Eagle County caused serious impacts to county health and medical systems and had the potential to create significant disruption to public safety, transportation, education, business workforce, and other critical infrastructure sectors; and WHEREAS,as a result, on December 28, 2021, Eagle County Manager Jeff Shroll issued a Local Disaster Emergency Declaration re: 2021 COVID -19 ("Declaration"); and WHEREAS,the Board of County Commissioners for Eagle County, Colorado ("Board") continued the Declaration on January 4, 2022, to be effective until otherwise amended or rescinded by the Board; and WHEREAS,as key metrics in health and medical, public safety, and transportation continue to improve, the Board desires to terminate the Declaration effective upon the execution of this Resolution; and WHEREAS,pursuant to C.R.S. 24-33.5-709(2), "[a]ny order or proclamation ... terminating ... a local disaster emergency shall be given prompt and general publicity and shall be filed promptly with the county clerk and recorder ... and with the office of emergency management." NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of Eagle County, Colorado: THAT, the Board confirms, determines, and declares that a disaster declaration is no longer warranted in Eagle County and; therefore, the Declaration is hereby terminated. THAT, this Resolution shall be promptly filed with the Eagle County Clerk and Recorder DocuSign Envelope ID:03B5BCFA-66F4-4B38-87A6-8FE539CF2623 and with the Office of Emergency Management. THAT, this Resolution is necessary for the public health, safety and welfare of the citizens of the County of Eagle, State of Colorado.
