HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 10/30/18 PUBLIC HEARING October 30, 2018 Present: Kathy Chandler-Henry Chairman Jillian Ryan Commissioner Jeanne McQueeney Commissioner Jeff Shroll County Manager Christina Hooper Assistant County Attorney Kathy Scriver Deputy Clerk to the Board This being a scheduled Public Hearing,the following items were presented to the Board of County Commissioners for their consideration: Commissioner Updates Chairman Chandler-Henry reminded people to vote. Everyone had until 7:00 pm,November 6th but the County Clerk requested that everyone to get their ballots in early. County Manger Updates Jeff Shroll thanked Road Bridge, WECMRD, and the Town of Gypsum for completing the KaBOOM playground park in Dotsero. 1. Tough Enough to Wear Pink Check Presentation Executive Summary: Shaw Cancer Centers, Kim Sharkey and Vail Health's, Christine Albertson will be present to accept the annual Tough Enough to Wear Pink donation from the 2018 Eagle County Fair and Rodeo.The Shaw Center will receive a$5228.00 donation, proceeds were generated by the 4-H Livestock auction, Friday night rodeo ticket sales and pass the boot cash donations. Kate Tennant from the Fair&Rodeo Department presented the Shaw Cancer Center with the annual donation raised at the annual Eagle County Fair&Rodeo—Tough Enough to Wear event. There were also two donations from 4-H. Jenny Leonetti, 4-H and Youth Development Extension Agent, spoke. Huck Palmiter of Gypsum donated a lamb and Cody Ponse, also of Gypsum, donated a pig. Cody Ponse stated that he donated his pig because he wanted to give back to the community and help those in need. Kim Sharkey,the Cancer Services Manager at Shaw Cancer Center,thanked the Rodeo Committee for the donation. The funds would go towards a variety of support programing for their patients. Consent Agenda 1. Amendment to Agreement between Eagle County and Vail HoneyWagon Enterprises LLC Mandi Nolan, Solid Waste&Recycling 2. Memorandum of Understanding Between Eagle County and Community Wildfire Planning Center Eric Lovgren, Sustainable Communities 1 10/30/2018 3. Ratify Sale of Red Cliff Lot Bryan Treu, Attorney's Office Commissioner Ryan moved to approve the Consent Agenda for October 30, 2018, as presented. Commissioner McQueeney seconded the motion. The vote was declared unanimous. Constituent Input Chairman Chandler-Henry opened constituent input. Joanne Rock spoke about something she heard on NPR about"Free Application Day." Colorado was having its first ever apply to college for free day, college applications that is. She also spoke about a couple of articles she recently read about the Philip Morris Company Sustainability Report and companies allowing their employees time off to vote.Lastly, she suggested that if anyone ran into the Governor today they make a suggestion that there be a food-aid drive. Chairman Chandler-Henry thanked Ms. Rock for sharing the information and closed constituent input. Work Session 1.
