In order to respond quickly to many bills, the Board of County Commissioners has developed the 2018 Legislative Policy Statement. This document identifies issues of interest to the County and aligned with the County's strategic plan. Chairman Chandler-Henry stated that it was decided about three years ago that the commissioners become clear about the legislative priorities, both at a state level and at federal level, that were of concern to Eagle County. The document and letters of support or opposition were located on the website under the Commissioner page. Commissioner McQueeney believed it was a great addition to the county's transparency efforts and a way to use the legislation to assist the county in its priorities. Commissioner Ryan stated that Eagle County belonged to a couple of advocacy groups and there were lobbyists available through those groups. This was a way to effectively advocate for policy changes at the state and federal level and a way to carry the voice of the citizens about things that were important.
