HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 01/17/17 PUBLIC HEARING January 17, 2017 Present: Jillian Ryan Chairman Jeanne McQueeney Commissioner Brent McFall County Manager Aric Otzelberger Deputy County Manager Bryan Treu County Attorney Kathy Scriver Deputy Clerk to the Board Absent: Kathy Chandler-Henry Commissioner This being a scheduled Public Hearing,the following items were presented to the Board of County Commissioners for their consideration: Commissioner Updates Commissioner McQueeney spoke about a recent Changing Minds fundraiser she attended. The organization hoped to reduce the stigma of mental health and raise awareness about the issue within the community. There was a$15,000 match offered from a community member, so she encouraged the community to donate and/or reach out to the Total Health Alliance. Chairman Ryan acknowledged Martin Luther King Jr.Day. Dr. King was a hero to her,a person who dedicated his life to making the world a better place. She shared a quote and believed the county looked through the same lens in how it served its residents. Consent Agenda 1 First Amendment to the Original Agreement for Services between Eagle County and Citadel Security and Investigations, LLC for Security Services at the Eagle County Fairgrounds Ron Siebert,Facilities Management 2. Intergovernmental Master Contract with Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment Jennifer Ludwig,Public Health and Environment 3. Amendment to Northwest Colorado Councils of Government—Alpine Area Agency on Aging and Eagle County for Purchase of Services Contract Title III of Older Americans Act and State of Colorado Older Coloradoans Act Carly Rietmann,Public Health and Environment Carly Rietmann spoke about the senior services contract on the agenda.The funding helped with direct services to the seniors. Commissioner McQueeney moved to approve the Consent Agenda for January 17,2017, as presented. Chairman Ryan seconded the motion. Of the two voting Commissioners,the vote was declared unanimous. 1 01/17/2017 Constituent Input Chairman Ryan opened constituent input. Joanne Rock shared her thoughts on mental health,Martin Luther King Jr.Day, and housing. Richard Ebancho.requested that the County Commissioners look into getting a Department of Motor Vehicle office in Eagle. Forty years ago there were three offices in the county. Currently,the only way for a senior to receive a license was to go to a DMV office in Glenwood Springs or Summit County. He believed it was difficult for seniors to get through the canyon or over the pass. Chairman Ryan agreed that the distance had its challenges. The DMV was a state office,and with the budgetary issues of the state,they consolidated. She stated that she would look into it and provide an update to the viewing audience.
