HomeMy WebLinkAboutR14-025 National County Government Month Commissioner U L M- - moved adoption of the following Resolution: BOARD OF COUNTY COMISSIONERS COUNTY OF EAGLE, STATE OF COLORADO RESOLUTION NO. 2014 O - Y ''. iii RESOLUTION DESIGNATING APItIL 2014 AS NATIONAL COUNTY GOVERNMENT MONTH WHEREAS, the nation's 3,068 counties provi 'ety of essential public services to communities serving 300 million Americans; and WHEREAS, Eagle County and all counties take pride in their responsibility to protect and enhance the health, welfare and safety of its residents in sensible and cost-effective ways; and WHEREAS, in order to remain healthy, vibrant, safe, and economically competitive, America's counties must be able to anticipate and adapt to all types of change; and WHEREAS,through National Association of Counties ("NACo") President Linda Langston's Resilient Counties initiative,NACo is encouraging counties to focus on how they prepare and respond to natural disasters and emergencies or any situation that the counties may face, such as economic recovery or public health and safety challenges; and WHEREAS, since 1991,NACo has encouraged counties across the country to actively promote county government programs and services to raise public awareness and understanding about the roles and responsibilities of the nation's counties to meet the needs of the community; and NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF THE COUNTY OF EAGLE, STATE OF COLORADO: THAT, the month of April, 2014 be proclaimed National County Government Month in Eagle County. THAT,the Board hereby encourages all Eagle County officials, employees, schools and residents to participate in county government month celebration activities.
