BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
COUNTY OF EAGLE, STATE OF COLORADO
RESOLUTION NO. 84- A,3
RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE NEED FOR MAJOR ROAD
IMPROVEMENTS TO COLORADO STATE HIGHWAY 24 NEAR
THE TOWN OF MINTURN BY THE STATE OF COLORADO
WHEREAS, as evidenced by the accident statistics
recently developed by the Town of Minturn, State of
Colorado, there presently exists a hazardous and unsafe
driving condition for those persons traveling the
approximate two (2) mile segment of Colorado State
Highway 24 between Interstate 70 at Dowd Junction and
the Town of Minturn commercial area, respectively,
County of Eagle, State of Colorado; and
WHEREAS, in order to make the aforesaid segment
of Colorado State Highway 24 a safe highway, major
road improvements and the upgrading to present
highway specifications are immediately needed; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Minturn,
State of Colorado, by Resolution #1, Series of 1984,
has requested the Board of County Commissioners of the
County of Eagle, State of Colorado ( "Board "), to support
its request to the various state agencies to priortize
the major road improvement of this segment of Colorado
State Highway 24 within their five -year state highway
improvement plan, and to commence and complete the

the construction of the same in a diligent manner; and
WHEREAS, the County of Eagle has an interest
in the aforesaid segment of Colorado State Highway 24
as it affects the residents and citizens of the County
of Eagle, and the traveling public in general; and
WHEREAS, the Board believes it in the best
interests and for the public health, safety and
welfare of the County of Eagle, as well as all other
citizens and residents of the State of Colorado, to
formally support the position taken by the Town of
Minturn, and to, likewise, make a similar request
to the State of Colorado for major road improvements
to that certain two (2) mile segment of Colorado
State Highway 24 near the Town of Minturn.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of
County Commissioners of the County of Eagle, State of
Colorado:
THAT, the Board hereby respectfully requests the
Honorable Richard D. Lamm, Governor of the State of
Colorado; the State of Colorado Legislators who represent
the County of Eagle and the Town of Minturn; and Regional
and State Divisions of the State of Colorado Department
of Highways, to identify the major improvement of that
approximate two (2) mile segment of Colorado State
Highway 24 between Interstate 70 at Dowd Junction and
Town of Minturn commercial area, respectively, County
of Eagle, State of Colorado, as a top priority item
in the five -year state highway improvement plan, and
to diligently pursue the commencement and completion

of the same.
THAT, this Resolution is necessary and in the
best interests of the public health, safety and
welfare of the citizens and residents of, and the
general traveling public within, the County of Eagle,
State of Colorado.
MOVED, READ AND ADOPTED by the Board of County
Commissioners of the County of Eagle, State of
Colorado, at its regular meeting held the �2 "V
