i
Whereas, the Eagle Valley Chamber of Commerce is concerned with the
economic development of Eagle County; and
Whereas, the eastern end of Eagle County has demonstrated the need
for and is desirous of a STOLport at Avon; and
Whereas, there has been significant expenditure of funds toward the
development of the Existing Eagle County Airport; and
Whereas, several studies have demonstrated that the Eagle County
Airport is the most desirable site for future airport expansion; and
Whereas, the citizens of the Eagle Area are desirous of growth through
development of service and transportation; and
Whereas, Federal funding is now available for improvements at the Eagle
County Airport, for 90% of such costs, and in later years the Federal share
for such expenditures will be reduced;
Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Eagle Valley Chamber of Commerce
that we endorse the concept of a STOLport at Avon, together with the expan-
sion of the Eagle County Airport at its present site, subject to the
following conditions:
1. That the Avon STOLport will be used exclusively by STOL aircraft
operated by Rocky Mountain Airways;
2. That the existing Eagle County Airport continue to be designated
as the sole site for any other commercial aviation operations in
Eagle County;
3. That Rocky Mountain Airways continue to operate 'a minimum of two
flights out of the Eagle County Airport on a daily basis.
4. That the operation of the Avon STOLport be under the jurisdiction
of the Eagle County Airport Authority;
5. That, upon granting of the special use permit for the Avon
STOLport, steps be taken to implement the Eagle County Airport
Master Plan or a revision thereof to meet the requirements of
commercial aviation operations. A commitment to this condition
by the Eagle County Commissioners' designation of airport
expansion as a high priority item supported by funding in the
next budgetary period is of paramount importance to this Chamber.
6. That a written agreement, incorporating all of the above conditions,
be entered into by the Eagle County Commissioners," Rocky Mountain
Airways, and the owners of the site of the Avon STOLport, prior to
the issuance of a special use permit for the operation of a
STOLport at Avon.
Adopted by a vote of the membership of the Eagle Valley Chamber of
Commerce, 31 for, and 0 against,, on the 19th of November,1977.
