BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
COUNTY OF EAGLE, STATE OF COLORADO
RESOLUTION NO. 83- �A
INTENT TO EXERCISE OPTION TERMINATING SOCIAL SECURITY
COVERAGE FOR THE COUNTY OF EAGLE, STATE OF COLORADO
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 24 -51 -701, et seq.,
C.R.S. 1973, as amended, the State of Colorado has made
provision for extending the benefits and coverage of the
Federal Social Security Act to employees of political
subdivisions within the State; and
WHEREAS, a political subdivision of the State of
Colorado presently has the option to request the State of
Colorado to terminate its coverage under the Federal Social
Security Act and, in its place and stead, to adopt a plan
comparable in providing benefits and coverage to employees of
such political subdivision; and
WHEREAS, the County of Eagle, State of Colorado, is
a political subdivision of the State of Colorado; and
WHEREAS, the County of Eagle, State of Colorado, by
and through its Board of County Commissioners ( "Board "),
desires to formally express its intent to exercise its option
to terminate Social Security coverage to employees of the
County of Eagle, State of Colorado, and to study and evaluate
alternative coverage and benefit plans in the interim period
prior to the effective termination date of such Social
Security coverage.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of
County Commissioners of the County of Eagle, State of
Colorado:

THAT, the Board hereby respectfully requests the
State of Colorado to take all necessary action to terminate
the benefits and coverage provided to the employees of the
County of Eagle, State of Colorado, under the Federal Social
Security Act and the Federal -State agreement relative
thereto; such termination to be effective December 31, 1985.
THAT, the Board hereby authorizes and directs the
Eagle County Administrator, Brad Jones, to take all necessary
action to effectuate the intent of this Resolution including,
but not limited to, the transmittal of a formal letter
request to terminate the County's Social Security coverage
along with a copy of this Resolution to the appropriate state
agency.
MOVED, READ AND ADOPTED by the Board of County
Commissioners of the County of Eagle, State of Colorado, at
its regular meeting held the % 1 ,;e� day of March, 1983.
