COUNTY OF EAGLE, STATE OF COLORADO
RESOLUTION NO. 2025 - 019
RESOLUTION APPOINTING BECKY CLOSE
TO FILL THE VACANCY IN THE OFFICE OF
THE EAGLE COUNTY CLERK AND RECORDER
•
WHEREAS, Regina O'Brien served as the elected Eagle County Clerk and Recorder for nearly 8
years and was most recently serving her 2nd elected term in office, commencing on the second
Tuesday in January 2023 and concluding on the second Tuesday in January 2027; and
WHEREAS, Regina O'Brien submitted to the Board of County Commissioners (the "Board") a
letter of resignation from her office as Eagle County Clerk and Recorder,effective January 4,2025
at 11:59 p.m.; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 9,Article XIV of the Colorado Constitution and C.R.S. §§ 1-12-
205, 30-10-404 and 30-11-117, when there is a vacancy in the office of the county clerk and
recorder, the board of county commissioners is required to appoint a suitable person to perform
the duties of clerk and recorder until the vacancy is filled at the next general election; and
WHEREAS, upon receiving Regina O'Brien's letter of resignation, the Board solicited letters of
interest, conducted interviews, and ultimately determined that Becky Close should serve as the
appointed Clerk and Recorder from the date of this Resolution through the next general election.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF THE COUNTY OF EAGLE, STATE OF COLORADO:
THAT, the Board hereby recognizes and commends Regina O'Brien for her years of dedicated
public service as Eagle County Clerk and Recorder and welcomes her into her new role as Assistant
to the Eagle County Manager.
THAT, effective as of the date of this Resolution, the Board of County Commissioners appoints
Becky Close to fill the position of Eagle County Clerk and Recorder pursuant to Section 9,Article
XIV of the Colorado Constitution and C.R.S. §§ 1-12-205, 30-10-404 and 30-11-117.
THAT, Becky Close's term of office as Eagle County Clerk and Recorder will commence on
February 18,2025 and shall continue until the next general election at which time a successor shall
be elected according to law.
THAT, this Resolution is necessary for the public health, safety and welfare of the residents of
the County of Eagle, State of Colorado.
