Permitted Construction / Details:
This OWTS Permit authorizes the replacement of a collapsed plastic tank originally installed as part of
ISDS 2160-01 and does not recognize nor assert that the existing soil treatment area is adequate to serve
both the residence and accessory dwelling unit located above the garage. Eagle County Environmental
Health has no previous record of an accessory dwelling unit above the garage being connected to the
septic system permitted in 2001.
Install the 2 septic tanks as depicted on the Brock Consulting, LLC design stamped, signed and dated
July 13, 2016. The previous design dated June 9, 2016 specified Valley Precast as the tank manufacturer.
The installer must check with the design engineer to verify whether these tanks are also to come from
Valley Precast or must use tanks that appear on the CDPHE list of approved septic tanks. A 1,500 gallon
septic tank will serve the residence while a750 gallon septic tank will be installed to serve the accessory
dwelling unit above the garage. Please note that the 1,500 gallon septic tank can serve up to a maximum
of 5 bedrooms and the 750 gallon septic tank can serve a maximum of2 bedrooms. However, the soil
treatment area installed in 2002 does not have sufficient capacity to serve more than a total of4
bedrooms, based on 2002 leach field area calculations. Any future expansion of bedrooms beyond what
exists today (according to the Assessor Records 5 bedrooms) will require an alteration OWTS permit.
The engineer must certify proper installation of the tanks and that sewer line connections to both
structures are done in accordance with Eagle County Public Health Agency OWTS Regulations and are
operational prior to the use of the system. The original tank must be abandoned in accordance with 43.9
(C.) of the aforementioned regulations with documentation provided in the final engineer report. Final
certification of proper installation along with photos and as-built drawings are required to be submitted
to, and approved by, Eagle County Environmental Health prior to the continued use of the OWTS.
