Dear Ms. Gray;
In accordance with the requirements of 6 CCR 1007-2, Part 1, Section 4.6.7 (B), as amended,
please be advised that Eagle County Government has reported the following current cost
estimates in its audited 2023 financial statements and related notes:
Liability for closure and post-closure costs at December 31, 2023: $3,277,867.81
Estimated total closure and post-closure costs remaining to be recognized at
December 31, 2023: $2,533,954.55
Estimated total liability for closure and post-closure costs upon completion of modules 1
through 9: $5,811,822.36
Percentage of landfill capacity used to date at December 31, 2023: 56.4%
Estimated landfill life in years on December 31, 2023: 17 years
Eagle County has complied with the requirements of Government Accounting Standards
Board Statement No. 18, Accounting for Municipal Solid Waste Landfill Closure and
Post-Closure Care Costs.
A copy of Eagle County’s audited December 31, 2023 financial statements is attached
for your reference.
Eagle County has placed a copy of this letter and the audited December 31, 2023
financial statements have been placed in the facility’s operating record.
