HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 02/06/2024 PUBLIC HEARING February 6, 2024 Present: Matt Scherr Chairman Kathy Chandler-Henry Commissioner Jeanne McQueeney Commissioner Jeff Shroll County Manager Kathy Scriver Deputy Clerk to the Board This being a scheduled Public Hearing,the following items were presented to the Board of County Commissioners for their consideration: Constituent Input Chairman Scherr opened and closed constituent input,as there was none. Commissioner Updates Commissioner Chandler-Henry had no updates. Commissioner McQueeney mentioned that there would be no meeting next week as the commissioners would be traveling to the National Association of Counties Inc. (NACo)to meet with commissioners across the country and talk about legislative issues. Chairman Scherr mentioned that Eric Lovgren, Eagle County Wildfire Manager,would be attending the conference as well representing Eagle County on the intergovernmental roundtable on disaster resilience. He also mentioned the loss of Rob Slifer, one of Vail's great founders. County Manager Updates Jeff Shroll stated that he had no updates to share. Consent Agenda 1. Public Notice: Partial Retainage Release of Contract between R.A.Nelson for the Public Health Offices Remodel on the 2nd floor Old Court House Arturo May, Project Management Commissioner McQueeney moved to approve the Consent Agenda for February 6, 2024 as presented. Commissioner Chandler-Henry seconded the motion. The vote was declared unanimous. State of the County 1. State of the County The theme this year is"Investing in Each Other,"and the event will include remarks from the county commissioners,remarks from the county manager,videos, and a presentation highlighting accomplishments from 2023 and looking forward to upcoming 2024 programs. Work Session - Eagle County Room 1. Lease To Locals Program Overview Kim Bell Williams&Melinda Dow, Housing Executive Summary: The Eagle County Housing and Development Authority is partnering with Placemate, Inc. to provide services for the Lease to Local program. This program provides a financial incentive to owners of units that are vacant or short term rented. The incentive is based on the size of the unit, and term of lease. Since May 2023,Placemate has housed 57 people in 29 properties in Eagle County. In 2024,we are looking to partner on 40 additional units.
