Enclosed is your ISDS Permit #2266-03, and a copy of the engineer's design for this system. The permit is valid for 120 days or for the duration of your current building permit for this property. The enclosed copy of the permit must be posted at the installation site. Any changes in plans or specifications invalidate the permit unless otherwise approved. Please note any special requirements that may have been added to the design by this Department. Systems that are designed by a Registered Professional Engineer must be certified by the engineer indicating that the system was installed as specified. Eagle County Environmental Health must also view the installation prior to back filling. Please call well in advance for your final inspection. Your TCO will not be issued until our office receives this certification from the engineer and views the installation. Please note that our ISDS Permit specifications are typically minimum requirements only and should be brought to the property owner's attention in case they may wish to install a system capable of handling larger wastewater flows. This permit does not indicate conformance with any other Eagle County requirements. Please notify this office if you have not been contracted to perform this installation. Box 4239 Edwards, CO 81632 Dear Paul: RE: Open Hole Observation - Barn Lot 8, Red Canyon Estates Eagle County, Colorado Project No. 03041 At the request of Sheldon, on April 18, 2003, we visited the construction site on Lot 8, Red Canyon Estates, Eagle County, Colorado. The purpose of our site visit, was to observe the soils exposed in the foundation excavation for the barn and compare them with the findings and recommendations of the Soil and Foundation Investigation Report, Project Number 2093, dated June 7, 2000. The excavation consisted of one, "U"-shaped trench. The trench was located at the base of the hillside. The soil exposed in the foundation excavation consisted of shale and sandstone bedrock. The soil exposed at the bottom of the excavation is suitable for the bearing capacity of 1500 psf, recommended in the above -named soil's report. We understand that this trench is for the back, foundation/retaining wall only, and individual footing pads will be constructed at a later date to support the front part of the barn. These pads will be supported on undisturbed soil, while the area for the support of the slab on grade will receive a structural fill. They used the on site, silty, gravelly sand for the backfill. A Standard Proctor Test was done on the backfill material. It had 115 pcf maximum dry density and 11.5% optimum moisture content. We measured the field density of the compacted soil with a nuclear gauge, according to the ASTM Standard D 2922-91, Test Methods for Density of Soil and Soil -Aggregate In Place by Nuclear Methods. We tested the first and second lift of the structural fill under the slab on grade area. The test results ranged from 92.6 to 97.9 percent of the maximum dry density. The test results are appended to this report. We recommend following the recommendations of the above -named soil's report during the remainder of the construction, specifically the sections on drainage and grading. In a situation where additional chambers will be used separately from the residential leachfield, as is this case for a half -bath in a barn for the homeowner(s), then a smaller amount of chambers could be recommended.
