COMMENTS: ADDITIONAL SOILS WORK WAS DONE BY THE ENGINEER IN THE SPRING OF 2003 THAT INDICATED A PERC RATE OF 40, SO THE
DESIGN WAS ALTERED TO REFLECT THIS CHANGE. THE FINAL INSPECTIONS WERE DONE BY LAURA FAWCETT OF EAGLE COUNTY ENVIRON-
MENTAL HEALTH AND THE DESIGN ENGINEER ON 5/23/03. THE ENGINEER'S FINAL CERTIFICATION AND AS -BUILT DRAWING WERE RECEIVED ON

At the request of Mr. Tere Nottingham on may 23, 2003, we visited the constructioai site on Lot 9, Red.
CanyOzl Estates, 1279 Red Canyon Creek Thrive, Eagle County, Colorado. Tli.e purpose of our site
visit was to inspect the installation of"the septic systeir.
They installed the system in overall compliance with the septic system desi.gii, Drawing No,
0 1 07SD.DW(--T, last dated May 12, 2003, as shows) on the attached as -built sketch. They installed a 2000-
gallon, two coinpartments, a precast, concrete septic tank. The building sewer litre crossing ri.nder the
driveway (75 feet) was double encased in a 6-inch diameter, Sch40 PVC; pipe with 0eanouts at both ends
of'the elacasem.ent. A, clean.out was installed between tlae house and the cleanout for the encasement and
between the encaseineiit and the septic tank.
Ninety-seven, Standard Infiltrator Chambers wore installed in nine trenches with 10 i.nflItrators in
the first trench, eleven ira the second, 12 i1i the next five trenches, l l in the eigbtli trench and :Five in tlae
ninth and last trerneli_ The infiltrators were connected with serial distributioai. In, the first said last infiltrator
of each trench., inspection ports were installed. The effluent line was 4-inch SDR 35 PVC. Also, ao
additional profile Note was excavated on April 11, 2003, on the downhill. side of the leachfxeld.. The soil
consisted of 2 feet of topsoil over 6 feet of reddish -brown, silty-gravolly sand_ Percolation test was done
within the proposed leachfield area to verify the assumed percolation rate of 30 mpi. 1 lie pe:rc test was
done on ,April 23, 2003. Ilse average perc rate was 4.1 rupi_ The design dated March 11, 2002, was
modified accordingly.

directions. A minimum of 12 inches in the first 10 feet is recommended in unpaved areas, and
three inches in the first 10 feet in paved areas. The top of the granular foundation backfill
should be covered with a minimum of 1 foot of relatively impervious fill to reduce the potential
of surface water infiltrating the foundation subsoils.
Surface water naturally draining toward the proposed building site should be diverted
around and away from it by means of drainage swales or other approved methods. The roof
drains and downspouts should extend and discharge beyond the limits of the backfill. The
underlaying bedrock is water soluble. Uncontrolled irrigation, or other drainage that can cause
water to enter the foundation soils, can create solutioning of the gypsum, sinkholes, and
settlement of the foundation.
LAWN IRRIGATION
It is not recommended to introduce excess water to the foundation soils by installing
sprinkler systems next to the building. The installation of the sprinkler heads should insure that
the spray from the heads will not fall within 10 feet of foundation walls, porches or patio slabs.
Lawn irrigation must be controlled.
SEPTIC SYSTEM RECOMMENDATIONS
A Profile Hole was excavated in the area shown on the attached location sketch. The soil
encountered in the Profile Hole consisted of one foot of topsoil over 7 feet of reddish -brown,
silty -gravelly sand. Ground water was not encountered. A percolation test will have to be done at
a later date, when the soil and air temperatures are above 32 degrees.
Based on the soil conditions encountered at the site, and the Eagle County Environmental
Health Department Guidelines for an Individual Subsurface Sewage Disposal, a conventional,
septic system will be required for this site.
