HomeMy WebLinkAboutR24-009 Supporting the Grant Application for Strong Communities Infrastructure Grant - West Eagle DocuSign Envelope ID:88457884-359E-49A1-8D78-8FC935A4AA39 Commissioner chandler-Hen ry adoption ado tion of the following Resolution: BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COUNTY OF EAGLE, STATE OF COLORADO RESOLUTION NO. 2024 - 009 RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE GRANT APPLICATION FOR STRONG COMMUNITIES INFRASTRUCTURE GRANT FOR THE WEST EAGLE AFFORDABLE HOUSING DEVELOPMENT IN EAGLE, COLORADO WHEREAS, the Eagle County Housing Department and the Eagle County Housing and Development Authority share the same mission to elevate our community through mentorship and housing solutions; and WHEREAS, Eagle County owns 9.5 acres in Eagle, Colorado and plans to develop 113 permanently affordable units (the"West Eagle Affordable Housing development"); and WHEREAS, Eagle County, according to the most recent housing needs assessment will lack 5900 workforce housing units by 2025; and WHEREAS, current cost estimates for the West Eagle Affordable Housing development predict each of the 113 units planned for development will require a significant subsidy to remain affordable to the local workforce; and WHEREAS, Eagle County with its primary partner, the Town of Eagle, intends to seek four million dollars ($4,000,000) in funding from the Colorado Department of Local Affairs through its Strong Communities Infrastructure Grant Program to support funding the critical infrastructure for the West Eagle Affordable Housing development; and WHEREAS, the Eagle County Board of County Commissioners (hereinafter"Board") supports the submission of the grant application to the Department of Local Affairs through its Strong Communities Infrastructure Grant to assist in funding the cost of the infrastructure of the West Eagle Affordable Housing development which will catalyze the development of 113 affordable units; and WHEREAS, if a grant is awarded, the Board desires to authorize any commissioner to sign the grant agreement as the applicant and as may be required by the Department of Local Affairs all in a form acceptable to the Eagle County Attorney's Office. DocuSign Envelope ID:884578B4-359E-49A1-8D78-8FC935A4AA39 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IS RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Eagle, State of Colorado: THAT, the Board supports submission of a grant application by Eagle County, through its resiliency department, to the Department of Local Affairs through its Strong Communities Infrastructure Grant Program; and THAT, if a grant is awarded by the Department of Local Affairs, the Board hereby authorizes any commissioner to sign a grant agreement in its role as an applicant and in a form acceptable to the Eagle County Attorney's Office; and THAT, the Board hereby finds, determines and declares that this Resolution is necessary for the public health, safety and welfare of the residents of the County of Eagle, State of Colorado.
