BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
COUNTY OF EAGLE, STATE OF COLORADO
RESOLUTION NO- 85 - S3
RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE CLOUD SEEDING
OPERATIONS OF VAIL ASSOCIATES: INC. FOR VAIL
AND BEAVER CREEK SKI AREAS
WHEREAS, it has recently been brought to the attention
of the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Eagle;
State of Colorado (hereinafter the "Board "). that Vail
Associates. Inc. has applied to the Executive Director of the
State of Colorado Department of Natural Resources for a weather
modification permit, pursuant to the Weather Modification Act of
1972, Section 36 -20- -101. et seq., C.R.S., for the purpose of
continuing cloud seeding operations for Vail and Beaver Creek
ski areas, owned and operated by Vail Associates, Inc., for the
1985 -1986 winter ski season- and
WHEREAS, the winter skiing industry is one of the
major contributors to the economic prosperity of the County of
Eagle, State of Colorado; and
WHEREAS, the Board supports weather modification
programs, such as cloud seeding, designed to enhance the winter
skiing industry in, and provide an economic benefit to, the
County of Eagle, so long as adequate safeguards are provided to
prevent substantial damage or harm to land, people, health,
safety, property, wildlife, or the environment within the County
and surrounding areas.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County
Commissioners of the County of Eagle, State of Colorado-
THAT, the Board fully supports the continuation of the
cloud seeding operations of Vail Associates, Inc. for the Vail
and Beaver Creek ski areas during the 1985 -1986 ski season, for
the reasons stated herein.
THAT, the Board further supports the request of Vail
Associates. Inc. that the State suspension criteria relative to
the issuance of a weather modification permit for Vail and
Beaver Creek ski areas be established as the following
percentages of the normal snowfall measured at the snotel site
on Vail Mountain for the months as indicated during the
1985 -1986 winter ski season-

THAT., this Resolution is in the best interests of the
public health. safety and economic welfare of the County of
Eagle, State of Colorado.
MOVED, READ AND ADOPTED by the Board of County
Commissioners of the County of Eagle, State of Colorado. at its
