Mr. & Mrs. Dixon met with Ray Merry regarding the setback maintenance between the house and the 1000 gallon vault. The deck is not considered part of the "occupied structure" and as such the tank may be placed 5' from the edge of the exterior wall. The structure (cabin) is built on piers. The vault will be located at the N.E. corner of the house and must have a high water alarm system. system is permitted for a 1000 gallon plastic vault with an alarm system. While a site evaluation was requested, an emergency with your Department prevented the inspection from taking place and you requested that we document the process and provide photos instead. A Norwesco (bruiser) 1000 gallon septic tank was installed on 10/20/2010 by Steve Jewit, Arena Excavating. The tank dimensions are length 102" (8 %2 feet), width 60" (5 feet), height 58" (4 % feet). The installation hole was dug 26" deeper than finished grade and 6" to 8" larger than the tank all the way around. 6" of pea gravel was installed in the hole. The tank was placed and backfilled with 6" minimum of pea gravel on all sides up to the tank inlet/outlet valves. Two 20" risers were installed for the man holes. All waste, vent and electric piping was installed and the system was flowtested and capped off pending the completion of the cabin plumbing. The hole was then backfilled to 6" above the tank with pea gravel followed by clean dirt up to grade. The top of the access holes are even with grade. Vent and waste cleanouts will be cut off at grade at a later date. A CD with pictures is included showing the installation process after backfilling.
