You, the property owner, installed the system. The OWTS design was based on 3-bedrooms plus 1 future potential bedroom. An average daily wastewater flow of 600 GPD was be used. The installation included a 1500-gallon, two-compartment concrete Valley Precast septic tank weighted by “Dead Men”. An Orenco® ProPak and PF5005 pump was placed in the second compartment of the septic tank. The floats were set to dose approximately 80 gallons each pump cycle, allowing approximately 5 gallons of drain back. The control panel for the pump was installed within line of sight of the septic tank. Valley Precast personnel performed start-up of the pumping system. Effluent is pressure dosed through a 1.5-inch diameter pump line to a mounded, 12’ x 50’ unlined sand filter. The mound consists of a minimum of 2-feet of sand filter material. Pipes used to disperse the effluent were surrounded by washed coarse screened gravel. The manifold was 1.5-inches in diameter and level. Laterals were 1.5-inches in diameter with 5/32-inch diameter orifice holes facing down, spaced 3-feet on center. Laterals will be separated by 3-feet. Each 1.5-inch diameter lateral ends in a sweeping ell facing up with a ball valve for flushing. A soil separation fabric was placed over the gravel layer followed by approximately 1-foot of topsoil. The mound has a minimum 3:1 slope (horizontal:vertical). The OWTS was generally installed according to specifications. This observation is not a guarantee of workmanship and/or parts and materials. ALL SERVICE septic, LLC should be notified if changes are made to the OWTS in the future. Any additional OWTS construction must be according to the county regulations. LIMITS: Observations are limited to components that are visible at the time of the inspection. The installer must have documented and demonstrated knowledge of the requirements and regulations of the county in which they are working. The 5.47-acre property is located outside of Dotesro, in an area where OWTSs and wells are necessary. Legal Description: Lot 7, Filing 1, Rivers Bend Subdivision Parcel ID: 1861-134-01-002 SITE CONDITIONS The property is currently undeveloped with the exception of a well drilled on in the southern portion of the Building Envelope. The well is located greater than 50-feet from the proposed septic tank and at least 100-feet from the proposed soil treatment area (STA). The Building Envelope is relatively flat, sloping slightly to the southwest toward the Colorado River. There is a Holy Cross power pole in the northern corner of the Building Envelope. The soil treatment area (STA) will be at least 10-feet off of the power pole and power lines. The toe of the slope of the mounded STA will encroach on the 10-foot setback, but we have confirmed with Holy Cross that this encroachment is acceptable. Table 1 describes the minimum required setback of OWTS components to physical features on the property compared to approximate, proposed setback distances. A report entitled “Subsoil Study for Foundation Design and Proposed Residence and Garage”, Project No. 17-7-750, dated November 8, 2017 is enclosed. HP Kumar conducted three percolation tests and drilled two profile borings on October 13, 2017. Groundwater was encountered at 6.5-feet in the profile borings. HP Kumar stated “It is likely that groundwater fluctuates with the level of the nearby Colorado River and will be higher during spring runoff months.” A gradation of a sample from Profile Boring #1 at 4-feet consisted of 17% gravel, 67% sand, 8% silt, and 8% clay. A sample obtained from the same boring at 6-feet and 8-feet consisted of 58% gravel, 40% sand, and 2% silt and clay. A gradation of a sample from Profile Boring 2 at 3-feet consisted of 0% gravel, 74% sand, 19% silt, and 7% clay. A sample obtained from the same boring at 5-feet consisted of 51% gravel, 43% sand, and 6% silt and clay. Percolation tests run between 30-inches and 36-inches below grade resulted in 9 to 10 minutes per inch (MPI). Eagle County OWTS Regulation requires an open test pit in addition to the percolation tests. A Profile Test Pit must be excavated. This office must be contacted at the time of excavation to verify soil type, soil structure, and signs of mottling. Additionally, once the Test Pit has been viewed by this office, a piezometer (4-inch pipe) must be placed in the Test Pit prior to backfill for the purpose of monitoring the groundwater level through months of seasonally high groundwater. STA sizing is based on Soil Type 2, Sandy Loam. With a minimum 2-feet of sand filter material over 2- feet of native Soil Type 2, a long-term acceptance rate (LTAR) of 1.0 gallons per square foot, will be used to design the OWTS. DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS Design Calculations: Average Design Flow = 75 GPD x 2 people/bedroom x 4 Bedrooms = 600 GPD LTAR = 1.0 GPD/SF 600 GPD / 1.0 gal/SF (2’ mounded sand filter) = min. 600 SF 600 GPD / 0.6 gal/SF (native soil) = min.1000 SF Sand Filter 12’ x 50’ Basal Area min. 30’ x 68’ The OWTS design is based on 3-bedrooms + 1 future potential bedroom. An average daily wastewater flow of 600 GPD will be used. The installation must include a 1500-gallon, two-compartment concrete Valley Precast septic tank weighted by “Dead Men” (specifications included). An Orenco® ProPak and PF5005 pump will be placed in the second compartment of the septic tank. The floats should be set to dose approximately 80 gallons each pump cycle, allowing approximately 5 gallons of drain back. The control panel for the pump must be installed within line of sight of the septic tank. We recommend Valley Precast personnel be contracted for start up of the pumping system. Effluent will be pressure dosed through a 1.5-inch diameter pump line to a mounded, 12’ x 50’ unlined sand filter. The excavation for the sand filter will begin at native grade and vegetation must be scarified to achieve a level base for the sand filter. The mound will consist of a minimum of 2-feet of sand filter material. Sand Page 3 filter material must be clean, coarse sand, all passing a screen having four meshes to the inch. The sand must have an effective size between 0.25 and 0.60 mm. The uniformity coefficient must be 4.0 or less. Material meeting ASTM 33, for concrete sand, with one percent or less fines passing 200 mesh sieve may be used. Pipes used to disperse the effluent must be surrounded by washed coarse screened gravel or crushed stone. All of the gravel or stone must pass a 2 ½-inch screen and must be retained on a ¾-inch screen. The manifold must be 1.5-inches in diameter and level. Laterals must be 1.5-inches in diameter with 5/32-inch diameter orifice holes facing down, spaced 3-feet on center. We recommend placing Orenco® Shields on each orifice. Laterals will be separated by 3-feet. Each 1.5-inch diameter lateral must end in a sweeping ell facing up with a ball valve for flushing. A soil separation fabric should be placed over the gravel layer followed by approximately 1-foot of topsoil or other suitable soil able to support vegetative growth. The mound must have a minimum 3:1 slope (horizontal:vertical); therefore, the basal area will extend approximately 9-feet beyond the sand filter on all sides (with a mound height of 3-feet above native grade). Soils in the sloped perimeter areas of the mound must be well draining and able to support vegetative growth. This soil must be approved by this office prior to installation. The mound must be crowned in a manner to promote drainage off of the STA. The component manufacturers are typical of applications used by contractors and engineers in this area. Alternatives may be considered or recommended by contacting our office. Construction must be according to Eagle County On-Site Wastewater Treatment System Regulations, the OWTS Permit provided by Eagle County Environmental Health Department, and this design. REVEGETATION REQUIREMENTS An adequate layer of good quality topsoil capable of supporting revegetation shall be placed over the entire disturbed area of the OWTS installation. A mixture of native grass seed that has good soil stabilizing characteristics (but without taproots), provides a maximum transpiration rate, and competes well with successional species. No trees or shrubs, or any vegetation requiring regular irritation shall be placed over the area. Until vegetation is reestablished, erosion and sediment control measures shall be implemented and maintained on site. The owner of the OWTS shall be responsible for maintaining proper vegetation cover. OPERATION INFORMATION AND MAINTENANCE The property owner shall be responsible for the operation and maintenance of each OWTS servicing the property. The property owner is responsible for maintaining service contracts for manufactured units, alternating STAs, and any other components needing maintenance. Geo-fabrics or plastics should not be used over the STA. No heavy equipment, machinery, or materials should be placed on the backfilled STA. Livestock should not graze on the STA. Plumbing fixtures should be checked to ensure that no additional water is being discharged to OWTS. For example, a running toilet or leaky faucet can discharge hundreds of gallons of water a day and harm a STA. If an effluent filter or screen has been installed in the OWTS, we recommend this filter or screen be cleaned annually, or as needed. If the OWTS consists of a pressurized pump system, we recommend the laterals be flushed annually, or as needed. The homeowner should pump the septic tank every two years, or as needed gauged by measurement of solids in the tank. Garbage disposal use should be minimized, and non-biodegradable materials should not be placed into the OWTS. Grease should not be placed in household drains. Loading from a water softener should not be discharged into the OWTS. No hazardous wastes should be directed into the OWTS. Page 4 Mechanical room drains should not discharge into the OWTS. The OWTS is engineered for domestic waste only. ADDITIONAL CONSTRUCTION NOTES If design includes a pump, weep holes must be installed to allow pump lines to drain to minimize risk of freezing. The pump shall have an audible and visual alarm notification in the event of excessively high water conditions and shall be connected to a control breaker separate from the high water alarm breaker and from any other control system circuits. The pump system shall have a switch so the pump can be manually operated. Excavation equipment must not drive in excavation of the STA due to the potential to compact soil. Extensions should be placed on all septic tank components to allow access to them from existing grade. Backfill over the STA must be uniform and granular with no material greater than minus 3-inch. INSTALLATION OBSERVATIONS ALL SERVICE septic, LLC must view the OWTS during construction. The OWTS observation should be performed before backfill, after placement of OWTS components. Septic tanks, distribution devices, pumps, dosing siphons, and other plumbing, as applicable, must also be observed. ALL SERVICE septic, LLC should be notified 48 hours in advance to observe the installation. LIMITS: The design is based on information submitted. If soil conditions encountered are different from conditions described in report, ALL SERVICE septic, LLC should be notified. All OWTS construction must be according to the county regulations. Requirements not specified in this report must follow applicable county regulations. The contractor should have documented and demonstrated knowledge of the requirements and regulations of the county in which they are working. Using a Pump Curve A pump curve helps you determine the best pump for your system. Pump curves show the relationship between flow (gpm or L/sec) and pressure (total dynamic head, or TDH), providing a graphical representation of a pump’s optimal performance range. Pumps perform best at their nominal flow rate — the value, measured in gpm, expressed by the first two numerals in an Orenco pump nomenclature. The graphs in this section show optimal pump operation ranges with a solid line. Flow flow rates outside of these ranges are shown with a dashed line. And its patented pump vault technology eliminates the need for separate dosing tanks. This document provides detailed information on the ProPak pump vault and filter, 4-in. (100-mm) 60-Hz turbine effluent pump, and control panel. It is intended for use in a septic tank (one- or two-compartment) and can also be used in a pump tank. The Biotube ProPak is designed to allow the effluent filter to be removed for cleaning without the need to remove the pump vault or pump, simpli- fying servicing.
