Squaw Creek Road Dear Mr. Chapin: All water and sewage disposal system loan inspections are done under the authority of the Eagle County Building Regulations, Section 10, sub -paragraph 3-A, adopted by the Eagle County Commissioners, September 20, 1982. An onsite inspection of the sewage disposal system on December 12, 1985 revealed that the system is functioning properly with no apparent problems. Permit #274 was issued on June 19, 1978 for this system. Water is supplied by a private water system. A sample was taken and sent to Upper Eagle Valley Sanitation District for testing. This OWTS primary treatment tank was approved and sized to replace the tank that serves both a three bedroom and a 1 bedroom cabin, for total of four (4) bedrooms. Please be aware that the original system was permitted and installed in 1978, permit IS-0274, and the average life of an onsite wastewater treatment system is 25-30 years. As this permit is for the replacement the primary treatment, the septic tank, the soil treatment area may require replacement in the near future and should be planned for accordingly. A new installation permit must be obtained through Eagle County at that time. Additional information about the maintenance your septic system needs can be accessed through Eagle County’s website, provided on the Environmental Health Department’s septic system resource page. Be aware that changes in the use of your property or alterations of your building may require commensurate changes to, or relocation of, your septic system. Landscape features, trees with tap roots, irrigation systems and parking areas above the soil treatment area can cause premature system failure. It is equally important that you notice and immediately repair dripping faucets and hissing toilets as this will certainly cause the system to fail.
