Permitted Construction / Details:
Replace the septic tank and sewer line, alteration of permit 155295IS, exactly as depicted in the LKP Engineering,
Inc design stamped, signed, and dated July 3, 2020 by Luiza Petrovska, PE. The OWTS is designed to serve the
existing 5 bedroom single family residence. The old tank is to be abandoned in place as specified in 43.9(C).
Install approximately 180 feet of schedule 40 sewer, with clean-outs installed as shown on the design drawing to the
new 1,500 gallon two compartment Valley Precast septic tank with effluent filter on the outlet tee followed by
effluent line connecting to the existing soil treatment area. Risers must be installed as necessary to bring both
access manholes to or above grade. Be sure to encase the sewer line for the setback distance of 10feet on both
sides at the drainage culvert in accordance with the design.
Contact Eagle County Environmental Health and the design engineer well in advance of requesting inspections prior
to backfilling any component of the OWTS. The design engineer is responsible for conducting all inspections
necessary to certify the installation and assure the functionality of the system. System certification, along with
photos and a record drawing is required to be submitted to and approved by Eagle County Environmental Health
prior to the use of the system.

Inspection Notes
The above-referenced permit has been inspected and finalized.
The Onsite Wastewater Treatment System (OWTS) was repaired and replaced components were installed to serve the
five-bedroom residence on the above property. Additional information about the maintenance of your septic system needs can be
accessed through our website links, provided on the Environmental Health Department’s septic system resource page.
Be aware that changes in the use of your property or alterations of your building may require commensurate changes to, or
relocation of, your septic system. Landscape features, trees with taproots, irrigation systems, and parking areas above the soil
treatment area can cause a premature system failure. It is equally important that you notice and immediately repair dripping
faucets and hissing toilets as this will certainly cause the system to fail. If you have any questions regarding this information,
please contact us at (970) 328-8755 and reference the OWTS septic permit number.

RE: Inspection of Septic System Installation
Septic Tank Replacement
Lot 3, Pilgrim Downs Phase II
1145 Pilgrim Drive
Eagle County, Colorado
Project No. 20-3406-OWTS-021490-2021
Dear Toby:
On June 28, July 8, and August 17, 2021, we visited your property on Lot 3, Pilgrim
Downs Phase II, 1145 Pilgrim Drive, Eagle County, Colorado. The purpose of our site visits was
to inspect the installation of the new septic tank for the existing, 5-bedroom residence.
The system was installed in overall compliance with the repair design, dated July 3,
2020. The installation was done by Travor Dunsdon with Altitude Septic.
He installed Valley Precast, 1500-gallons, two compartments concrete septic tank with
an effluent filter in the second compartment. The inlet and outlet of the tank had the T’s
installed. In the outlet Tee, an effluent filter was installed with the handle extended close to the
top of the riser. The new building sewer line was constructed with SCH40 pvc from the old,
exposed building sewer line, north of the house to the new septic tank. The new effluent line was
also, 4-inch diameter, sch40 pvc. The tank access ports had 3’8” corrugated, plastic risers with
green, plastic lids secured with screws. The height of the risers will be adjusted (cut) to be level
with the ground surface. According to Travor, the old septic tanks was crushed and backfilled in
place.
There is no other warranty either expressed or implied.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call.
Sincerely,

RE: Consultation on Septic Tank Replacement
Lot 3, Pilgrim Downs Phase II
1145 Pilgrim Drive
Eagle County, Colorado
Project No. 20-3406
Dear Toby:
On June 1, 2020, we visited your property on Lot 3, Pilgrim Downs Phase II, 1145
Pilgrim Drive, Eagle County, Colorado. The purpose of our site visit was to find/observe the
components of the existing septic tank.
From our conversation on site, from emails, from the documents received from the Eagle
County Environmental Health Department, and through conversation at the site with Jim
Childers, the Pilgrim Downs Property manager, we understand that the existing system was built
in 1997 for five bedrooms. While on site, we also discussed the possible locations for the tank
replacement. At present the existing septic tank is located above and very close to an old
retaining wall. Through communication with you, your architect Ann Gunion, and your
structural engineer, Tim Hennum, PE, it became apparent that in order not to impact the stability
of the old retaining wall, it would be best to find a new location for the proposed, new septic
tank. After contemplating several alternatives, you decided that we should move the new septic
tank at the base of the driveway, in the Pilgrim Downs Open Space, Utility, Drainage, and
Access Easement – with the approval of the Pilgrim Downs HOA. Jim Childers will be
communicating with the HOA for the approval.
We recommend that the old septic tank be removed and disposed according to the ECEH
Department regulations, OWTS #43.9C.1 - Abandonment of Tank. Once the old tank is removed
the new site will be prepared by Travor Dunsdon, Altitude Septic, for the installation of the
proposed, new septic tank. The new septic tank will be 1500-gallons, two compartments, precast,
concrete septic tank, by Valley Precast or equivalent, with an effluent filter in the second
compartment. Following are the instructions for the septic tank installation and the repair of the
building sewer lines:
Bends in the building sewer shall be limited to 45 degrees.
The septic tank will be installed level.
The tank will have risers over each access manhole and all risers
will extend to or above final grade.
Each riser lead will have a secure closing mechanism, such as a
lock, special headed bolts or screws, to prevent unauthorized
access.

The septic tank and all the piping will be backfilled up to the
inverts prior to scheduling an inspection.
Replace/repair the building sewer line with 4-inch diameter,
SCH40 pvc due to the crossing under the driveway/parking area.
Construct cleanouts on the building sewer line as shown on the
plan.
New effluent line will be constructed from the new septic tank to
the existing soil treatment area (leachfield.)
Your installer will need to pull a repair permit and will coordinate the abandonment of
the old tank, the installation, connection and backfilling of the new tank, and will make sure that
all the required setbacks are met. Once the new septic tank is installed with all the connections
completed, you or your installer will give a 48-hour notice to LKP Engineering and the ECEH
Department to schedule the inspection. DO NOT backfill any part of the system prior to the
inspection. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call.
Sincerely,

INTRODUCTION
Lot 3, Pilgrim Downs Phase II is a single family homesite located in the Lake Creek
drainage, south of Edwards, Eagle County, Colorado. A home with caretaker's unit is
proposed to be built on the site. Pilgrim Downs is not currently served by Upper Eagle
Valley Consolidated Sanitation District; an Individual Sewage Disposal System is proposed.

The proposed system will serve a four -bedroom residential single family dwelling with a one -
bedroom caretaker's unit.

On November 6, 1995, three percolation tests were performed at the proposed absorption
trench location. Three pits were hand -dug to a depth of two -and -a -half feet, encountering
topsoil to the bottom of the holes. Groundwater was not encountered in the holes. The
average percolation rate was 7.6 minutes per inch (MPI). All three tests indicated sufficient
percolation rates.
A soil profile pit was dug by backhoe to a depth of fifteen feet on November 20, 1995. Soils
encountered were: 2 feet of topsoil followed by a red -brown sandy silt to a depth of
approximately 12 feet, followed by a tan _silty sand with large rock fragments to a depth of 15
feet. Bedrock was not encountered. Neither groundwater nor indication of a seasonal high
water table was encountered.
