Permitted Construction / Details:
This system is designed to replace the existing failing septic system. Replace the existing system originally
permitted under #1225-93IS exactly as depicted in the LKP Engineering, Inc. design stamped, signed and dated on
March 7th, 2021. The new system will be sized to accommodate the maximum daily flows for a 7 bedroom residence.
This OWTS consists of one sewer line from the residence. A Valley Precast 2,000 gallon, three-chamber septic tank
with a 2,500 gallon total volume shall be used with an effluent filter in the outlet tee. An Orenco PF500511 High Head
effluent discharge pump capable of delivering 30gpm against 15.9ft of total dynamic head shall be used. The floats
will be set to dose 90 gallons per dose. The STA consists of 4 shallow trenches, 2 with 17 Infiltrator Quick 4 Plus
Standard chambers and 2 with 16 Infiltrator Quick 4 Plus Standard chambers for a total of 66. The existing cleanouts
along the sewer line should be verified prior to backfilling. The existing septic tank should be abandoned per
ECPHE OWTS Regulations #43.9.C. An additional test pit must be conducted and reviewed by the Design Engineer,
prior to installation.
Contact Eagle County Environmental Health and the design engineer well in advance of requesting inspections prior
to backfilling any component of the OWTS. The design engineer is responsible for conducting all inspections
necessary to certify the installation and assure the functionality of the system. System certification, along with
photos and a record drawing is required to be submitted to and approved by Eagle County Environmental Health
prior to the use of the system.
THIS PERIMT EXPIRES BY TIME LIMITATION AND BECOMES NULL AND VOID IF THE WORK AUTHORIZED BY THE PERMIT IS NOT COMMENCED WITHIN 120 DAYS OF
ISSUANCE, OR BEFORE THE EXPIRATION OF AN ASSOCIATED BUILDING PERMIT

RE: Soil and Site Evaluation for an
OWTS-REPLACEMENT
Bosma 7-Bedroom Residence
Lot 11, Red Canyon Estates
1591 Red Canyon Creek Road
Eagle County, Colorado
Project No. 20-3476
On August 20, 2021, we visited the Bosma property on Lot 11, Red Canyon Estates,
1591 Red Canyon Creek Road, Eagle County, Colorado. The purpose of our site visits was to
select new area for the replacement onsite wastewater treatment system. The previously selected
area (report dated March 7, 2021), will be used to extend the horse coral and barn.
There is an existing residence on the property, undergoing a remodel. The following
evaluation was prepared for the replacement of the existing septic system. From the information
provided, we understand that the existing system consists of 2000gallon septic tank, and a soil
treatment area with infiltrator chambers. During the site visit on January 26, 2021 while digging
the first profile hole, at about a foot below grade, an infiltrator chamber was uncovered. The
chamber was full of liquid. The existing, failing system was constructed in 1993, with Eagle
County ISDS Permit Number 1225.
The proposed new OWTS was designed for a 7-bedroom residence. During the second
site visit, two profile holes were excavated within the selected new soil treatment area. We
logged the profile holes and took soil samples for evaluation and tactile testing.
The property is a 35.15-acre parcel of land, according to the Eagle County Assessor’s
Records and according to the survey prepared by Eagle valley Surveying, Inc. Directions are
from U.S. Highway 6 in Edwards to Lake Creek Road left onto Hillcrest Drive toward Red
Canyon Creek Road, through the I-70 underpass continue on Red Canyon Creek Road for about
1.7 miles. The property is on the left at 1591 Red Canyon Creek Road.

system is from 1993 and it is failing.
G Topography: The topography of the leachfield site is moderate with an
average slope of about 16 percent from west to east.
G Soil Data: The profile holes were observed on January 26, 2021. The
soil exposed in the profile holes was as follows:
Profile Hole #1
very little topsoil with about 8 inches of
frost over reddish-brown, silty, slightly
clayey sandy soil with some gravel
at about one foot below the surface, an infiltrator chamber from the
existing STA was found and it was full of liquid

LTAR = 0.6 gpd/sf,
REQUIRES: Since the STA was moved in about the same area where the
old STA is located, the old STA will be removed, the ground cleared of any
biomat and if necessary, a layer of filter sand placed under the new
infiltrator chambers.
